Return to OS4.1 - AmigaONE X5000

I want to givev thanks to ACLII and Aaron at Amiga On The Lake, for making my come back to OS4.1 FE easier.

I have recently return to the NG arena after purchasing a X5000. I had some initial issues with the OS installation that ACLII helped me to fix.

Aaron gave me the advice I needed to fix my Internet connection issues. As both ACLII and Aaron had diagnosed, it was a matter of reseating the network card.

Now I am up and running and super excited.

One more question, where is it again that I need to copy my WHLOad key to get rid of the non-registered user screen? I know there is a new version which doesn't need that; where to download from? and where to store to avoid conflict with the existing installation?

Does 4.x require a special version of WHDLoad? Couldn't you just download the regular user_small version from the support page?

i think the standard location for the classic workbench is sys:Emulation/AmigaDisks/Workbench3.1/
Your whdload key should then be in sys:Emulation/AmigaDisks/Workbench3.1/s

I don't know, just guessing.

I have not tested the latest version of WHDLoad (past 1.80 that is) but I remember it needed the special version included in RunInUAE.

AFAIK that special version just points to WHDLoad in the workbench3.1/ emulation directory and makes sure everything runs smooth and is redirected to the emulation..

That's exactly where I have my whdload.key stored, which is the same location I use with my A1200. But it's still showing WHDLOad as unregistered.

[UPDATE] Problem solved. It was in the WB3.1 stored in the RunInUAE drawer, inside the Workbench image, and of course, in S.

That is great ACLII is a big help and I am glad the network card fix did the trick
