4000 power supply

Hi,

My power supply on my 4000 gave up no bad caps inside, only putting out 3 volts on 12 volt side  So I ordered a adapter from Amigakit to use a AXT power supply. How  would you go about making the Amiga power button work with this so it looks correct?
Can the old power supply fixed are they mostly gone by now?

I usually just change the guts of the psu.  so putting in an ATX psu inside the old 4000 psu case..  and change so the poweron from the ATX is connected to the built in switch.

voila  ATX and still looks original.

There are two adapters listed for the for 4000. one with switch and one with out.

Do Not attempt a repair if you do not know how to discharge high voltages. Schematic for one of the manufacture's of 4000 supply.

The adapter listed below comes with a latch-type switch to make the ATX behave like the original PSU.  It can be fitted into the A4000 so that you can use the original switch, if you are creative.  
I did a combination of what Chucky suggests (transferring the guts), and this insured the switch would work the same.  He has a tutorial for doing so on his wordpress site, though it is for an A2000.

A switching power supply needs a load but if you use your mother board as a load and the mother board has a problem it could also cause your problem. A4000 mother boards are known for bad caps. Also A3640 caps.
