Indivision ECS/OCS Status
« on: January 06, 2018, 12:06:57 AM »
So, are Indivision ECS/OCS not being made any more?  I see out-of-stock, t.b.a, etc. from various online stores.  Individual Computers still make other versions, just not sure what is up with the ECS/OCS version.

I don't think anyone here is going to know that.  Jens makes new production runs periodically, they come in and out of stock, just keep your eye open, I suppose.  Or you could try emailing him.  ;)

I really hope they will come at a time when I have the money to spare. I have been searching high and low for one of those, for the last 3 months.

I emailed them and they told me it won't be under 100 euros because some parts are no longer being made.  I assume that means a redesign.

It was always around that price.  Lowest I ever saw it was $92 USD, but that was a couple years ago.  Obviously various exchange rates apply, etc.

You can say that again! But hey, if you own a money tree, here's an IndiECS out of Germany, including shipping, that will only set you back about $400.00 USD! I'm considering keeping my Miggy gear in safety deposit boxes! :laugh1:

Notice how everything sells in EUR, or better yet, BP for maximum exchange rate profit!? :hammer: Oh well, that's what happens when we have a strong dollar here at home.

Actually the dollar is weaker which is why it takes more dollars to buy something priced in other currencies. If it took $100 USD to buy something priced at €100 before and it takes $125 USD to buy the same priced thing today, the dollar is worth less than it was before ie weaker.

Postage is actually what is cutting into my overseas purchases now more than currency exchange rates. Shipping from some European countries seems to have skyrocketed lately, especially for heavy packages of Amiga hardware :(

Correct, the dollar is weaker on the foreign market. Our dollar is stronger buying domestic products though say like lumber and such. As our stock market increases, which it has dramatically and very quickly, the dollar skids on the foreign banks. Just ask anyone in the military right now, it’s killing them as they can only afford to buy on base. I lived in Japan and Korea for 5 years and we would pray for the US stock market to take a dive so that we could buy more Japans and Korean domestic goods - like food & of course, electronics! The US military overseas would let everyone know first thing in the morning if the USD was going to slide, even for a day or two, go buy more YEN! Of course, with global computer networks, the exchange rate changes from minute to minute! Oh and yeah, shipping is a real killer! Even US eBay sellers gouge the crap out of you! Charge an exorbitant shipping rate and then send it USPS. :hammer:

Within the EU people will usually sell in their own currency. With a strong dollar it's better for you, because you can usually buy from the EU cheaper than you can buy from home.

Except Trump puts high import duty on you, while giving tax breaks to his friends..... Keep on filling that swamp.

Hear, hear!  Same on the Facebook group...tired of everything turning into the same old political %&$#?@!%&$#?@!%&$#?@!%&$#?@! show, instead of being focused on Amiga.

Well the import tax was relevant, but I apologise for taking it further.

Just the opposite my friend!

Even though the US stock market climbs higher everyday, our USD buys less and less of the BP and EUR everyday!

9 months ago the exchange rate between the BP and the EUR was damn near at parity with the USD. Good time to buy euro goods on ebay.

Today the exchange rate with the EUR is .80 EUR to 1 USD. The exchange rate with the BP is .70 BP for 1 USD. Personally, I'm not going to buy anything euro on ebay at this time.

That's what brings European investment back to the US! :)

I'm gonna invest and spend my USD right here in the good 'ole USA! :laugh1:
(The only thing that stinks is that we don't manufacture damn near anything here in the US anymore - but hopefully that will change). Look at Samsung and LG... they get a 50% US tariff slapped on them so what did they do? They are both building 1/2 billion dollar manufacturing plants here in the US!

You can watch the exchange rates right here everyday. I do!
