A500+ issues
« on: December 26, 2017, 03:41:23 PM »
Hi

I have an Amiga 500 with a 500+ inside and when I swith on I get nothing. Just about see the monitor is on. The power light is on and the caps light flickers once. I have cleaned up and reseated everything. Replaced CPU and ROM twice with no joy. Except, I put in the original 3.1 ROM and now after about five seconds the drive light comes on and stays on. No drive activity though.

This Plus must have had the battery removed pretty early as the motherboard is completely clean, no traces left from the old battery. I have tried different power supplies even my Goliath. Nothing kicks this computer.

Any ideas.

No worries. Evidently it is important to have the CPU installed the right way round. Duh ! I was looking at my photographs and thinking that the words should go the other way round. So I swapped over and like magic she sprang into life. So a bit of user error sorry.

So if you have a completely black screen maybe check that the chips have been put in the right way round. I have removed the A5000 from the computer and placed in store so she was devoid of CPU. My bad for not looking at what I was doing.

All done.

you were lucky, that could've broken the chip.
Better sorry than worry.
