I think that the ones that are interested are already clicking. :) A
few years back, I went to that site every day...sometimes more than
that. Got bored with it though cause on the most part the content is
OLD.

:)
:-o...

If AmigaINC only updated their site... There has really been no info for like over 6months now, so not much reason to visit their site that often... I still check it every second day, just in case they posted something heh..

I think if Amiga Inc had sent out the T-shirts they promised to coupon buyers, they'd have some instant-marketing already.  Instead they apparently prefer to nick my money and have no marketing strategy.

If Amiga Inc had delivered the t-shirts as required by law, it might not have saved them, or even delayed the inevitable, but it would have been a whole lot better than shanking the community out of all that money then disappearing like thieves in the night.  Too much spilt milk to cry over now.

In all due fairness, giving McEwen the benefit of doubt, it's entirely possible that at the time, he WAS expecting money from some corporate sponsor but needed a quick influx to keep going until then. (Around the time of the StL 2001 show according to the recently discovered SQL backups from that period).  Then when the cash never came, the t-shirts became irrelevant.

This is starting to sound really, eerily familiar, so I'll stop while I'm ahead.  I just wonder if any of the names will change in the next four years.

AI's Employees
« Reply #20 on: March 08, 2004, 10:13:56 PM »
Well, it was just an idea I had. I guess it didn't go over so well. :-)

The posts in this thread (thanks for taking it seriously, btw :-))have sent me in a new direction of wondering. If all of AI's employees are unpaid, what do they do for money? Better yet, what do the people who are left actually do for AI? Do they stick around because they got some equity they hope will increase in value when OS4 comes out (or however else value can be increased)?

The big question is, where are McEwen and Moss and how do the above questions apply to them?

You might be able to tell that I'm hopefull for AI to get back on its feet "for the future". My inner Pollyanna tells me that AI has some big secret plan in the works that they will unleash on the world, like a tiger ready to pounce on an unsuspecting gazelle.

Oh for heaven's sake , are you people spewing this "Ray owns Amiga's paypal account," "ray pays for the website" nonsense really that clueless or are you just practicing for your moron's thesis? (hey, if you're going to moderate/censor this, just cut out this para.  )

I have my own non-Amiga-related sites to be concerned about (which I won't mention here because I don't want to attract  the idiot factor :-D).

My money certainly does not pay for Amiga's services or anything else related.

Gooood question. Very good question. I sure as hell don't know. For a start, maybe you could ask Ray "LOL, YOU HAVE NO CLUE" AKey where he gets the money to keep Amiga.com up, since it seems unlikely that with less than $200 in the bank, 2million dollars of debt, and the inability to pay lawyers, his "sleeping giant" benefactors are paying him. You could ask him yourself, but don't expect a civil reply because he's good at calling people retards and telling people they have no clue.

@KennyR

Please don't start.  I was under the mistaken impression that Amiga Inc was hosted on Ray's server, or Ray was paying for it these days.  I have been corrected.

This conversation is not yet another reason to kick the dead horse.

absolutely.  In all seriousness, I hope the AI people are doing well.  Thought I haven't been there, I know what they're going through, no matter what they're now doing for real jobs.

@ Wayne

If things hasn't improved dramaticly by then (one of the new platforms
taking off for *real* (I am particulary hoping for a specific one;-)))
then it won't matter what names we will se in four years from now
anyway. If the community is dead now, how will it look after some
additional four years without a viable market? In that case, most
discussions here on amiga.org will be about the next president
election in the USA and such non-Amiga related things. That's my guess
anyway. Will amiga.org even still be here in that case?

It's not about hardware people - the latest Pegasos II with its
updated firmware is now flawless IMHO. It's not about the OS and SW
people - it's well supported by OS's and MorphOS is great now
(especially after the bugfixes in 1.4.2) and only becomes better all
the time. No, it's about the "business people". It's their mission,
it's their assignment. The "product pieces" of the puzzle is
there, but now the "business people" has to put them together in
the best possible way, and hopefully in several different ways. Let's
hope they get their act together and pull it off. It can happen. But
anyway, I have some really silent but yet quite powerful hardware
here, perfect for home server usage and such, so I am quite happy
right now! :-)
MorphOS is Amiga done right! :)

Word from Hyperion is that the pre-release will be available to users within 14 days.

They have pointedly refused to give an estimate for the official release.

14 days you say. That sure sounds ... promising!  :-P

Well, maybe it will turn out to be true THIS time, who knows?
