@kreciu
How is the cdrom connected to the FastATA?
I believe the correct setup when installing is to have the harddrive connected to the primary port as master and the cdrom as slave, also on the primary port.
But it might be worth experimenting a little here.

This is probably the answer. If you see the OS4.1 splash screen it means the kernel has loaded and reset the machine properly.  It's probably searching for the CDROM drive and not properly finding it.   Dump the FastATA for now and setup as primary and slave on the A1200 IDE port and try again.

Thank you! You are THIRD person telling me that, so I think you should be right.  I will try to do it today evening/night :).

I wish manual for AmigaOS4.1 mentioned something about that FastATA issue during installation (apparently it is COMMON issue). I hope FastATA will work at least AFTER installation...

I love disassembling my Amiga... ;). What I would do without help!

When I had my Amiga 1200, I had to put in a buffered ide dual drive, on this I had to put the dh0: drive on one branch and the CD on the other branch with both set to master. Now all I had was the original chip set  with no expensive boards, but after I did that all lock ups went away and I finally booted into OS 4.1. If you put both on the same branch of the ide controller, then OS4.1 gets lost. It is one of the most finicky OS I ever had the pleasure of using. I still have my copy but dread trying to install it again. It took me about 2 months of playing with this disaster of an OS and to tell you the truth I would rather try to install a DOS system for gaming then this OS. Read every sentence in the OS4.1 instruction manual, you skip one word and you are doomed I tell ya.
I have no idea what your talking about, so here is a doggy with a small pancake on his head.

MorphOS is a MAC done a little better

I think I will end up working on this 2 months... Taking all from my tower takes time and PATIENCE ;).

I will keep you updated.

So, now it is even WORST then before. My Blizzard 030 goes FARTHER in installation of OS4.1 (to the point of loading bootloader) then my Blizzard PPC. Amazing...

I just successfully installed OS3.9 WITH WarpOS after change, so DVD-ROM/HDD etc. etc. works. No issues, and stable as it can be.

Best hardware to run AmigaOS4.1.. my PC.

I want to show you something... best view ever. I hope it will work! I'm quite sure it will work with FastATA. When it will finish I will try it. No, I did not boot from floppy. BTW. Best looking Amiga ;)

I "installed" it, but it will not boot :(. At least not yet..., what a mess. I can only imagine how sale of system like this would looks like "for general public" :).

Great to see progress !

My CyberstormPPC/Mediator4000/UWSCSI 15K/Radeon/soundscard/X-surf and A1200T/BlizzardPPC/BVision is running OS4.1 without problems, so you should have it running as well.

I very vaguely recall you need to edit something in the kicklayout file before it will boot..

Also I think you need to make sure you install it on the first 4Gb of your drive, otherwise it wont be able to load the kickstart required for bigger drives. But I could be mistaken there, I have IDEFix Express.

I agree with you 100% regarding the hassle to get things working being the most rewarding thing about the Amiga. That is, as long as you keep making progress.

What can I say... with FastATA and Radeon. Boots in about 20s. This is AMAZING how someone can screw up installer for system. As usual, when it works it is rock solid.

Did I pay for this OS? Maybe this is a part of purchase trying to "play" with it and when I actually SEE Workbench this is actually "the end" of fun...

I realized the other day how much fun I am going to have loading OS4.1 on my 1200 considering the BlizzardPPC lacks a SCSI interface.  My only option for loading the OS is to connect an IDE CD-ROM which is going to be such a mess.  If only loading from USB was an option.

If only my CD-ROM AND HDD work at the same time, that would be amazing. I need to disconnect CD-ROM so HDD will boot (most likely I need to attach it on secondary IDE). USB booting on Classic? :hahaha: ;)

Nicest part is that OS3.9 with all the same HW has ZERO issues.

I think there should be Final Final version of OS4.1 for classics, that works most of the time, not just "for selected one".

I tried to connect to internet using my Realtek network card... good luck! Nothing, device not detected. (Did I mentioned it works great under OS3.9?).

BTW. My Blizzard PPC had SCSI, but it LACKS DRIVERS from OS4.1 :), so I can't use it.

I think that you have to install the SLB to the RDB of your HD in order to boot from it.

Can you explain more? I really don't know how to boot this system with DVD-rom attached (on the same IDE port).

THANK YOU!

your Dvd rom drive needs to be set to slave and the CF card master but I don't know how you would do this with a CF card?
