Strange FPU issue
« on: October 27, 2017, 11:44:01 AM »
Hi all

I have posted the below on Amigaworld for help I have had some ideas but nothing has changed the outcome.

Ok as Amiga are so simple unlike pc when they have issues. I went back to basics no indivision AGA MkII card still no fpu. ok let's remove something else. Buffered IDE interface removed reboot from floppy workbench 3.1 disk boom fpu is back. Tried another idea interface I had no fpu. But wait it gets more wierd Amiga won't boot from cf card unless cdrom drive is connected as well.

So now I have a problem connect just CF and have no cdrom drive but have FPU.  Or connect Cdrom drive and have no fpu.

Accelerator card is a Blizzard 030 @50mhz MK2 32mb ram

PS I get all the same symptoms if I use a different A1200  motherboard.

:angry::angry:

Hope someone know why this is happening.

PS cdrom is self powered.

Same effect in another a1200

More details are needed - what is the master/slave configurations on the CF card reader and CDROM drive? Manual or cable-select? In general, the master device should be at the end of the cable.

What IDE interfaces are these? Where do they connect?

I think the CF is master on the 2.5" port and the CDrom is master on the secondary 3.5" port

the CDrom is self powered so not taking power from A1200 PSU or motherboard.

I don't understand this post. Are you saying that when you have an IDE adapter installed the FPU on your accelerator isn't detected? What software are you using that reports that? (SysInfo, etc.)

Correct when the ide buffered interface is used FPU is not detect in either shell by typing cpu

or by running sysinfo

also when trying to run supertux 68k it says ixemu.library requires a FPU
