X5000 error on boot
« on: July 17, 2017, 09:54:51 PM »
Hey guys. Just received my x5000 and I get a strange error on boot. Purchased it from Amigakit and has all the upgraded components, but when I boot I get an error that says, Intution is attempting to reset the workbench screen. Please close all windows except drawers. The system then proceeds to lock itself up and I can't move mouse or keyboard. If I press space during boot and hit cancel really fast it brings me to the desktop, but I get very low res and color options. Nothing that recognizes the Radeon card at all. If I then reboot, I get the same error and it freezes again.. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

have you tried booting from the OS4.1 disk if you have made a copy from the digital download, or loaded OS4.1 from a USB disk and then try to reinstall OS4.1 on to the hardrive??
Amigaone X5000 4GB with Radeon HD 7750 and Amiga OS 4.1 FE Pre-Release

Amigaone 500 2GB with Radeon 5450 and Amiga OS 4.1 FE update 1

Amiga 1200 with ACA 1231/42 accelerator and Amiga OS3.9

Yes, it came with a usb restore stick and does the same thing there, but I tried switching out the monitor and it works sort of...still get the intution error at times when I change out the resolution, but it doesn't freeze at the beginning anymore. Going to mess with it more today and see if I can get it to work better.

Are you using dvi cabling? if yes..

At power up, wait for the flashing amin boing ball.. hit the spacebar,
this should bring you to the boot menu, type enter, watch the kickstart info.

BTW, did you check that the video card and other card were well seated.
That trip from England can shift the cards about!

+1.  I'd be hard pressed to believe that AmigaKit didn't at least fire it up to confirm it was working correctly prior to sticking it in a box.  ( )  I'd triple-check all your connections, make sure you're using good quality cords, and a supported monitor (if there is such a thing with that system?).  Good luck!

I'm using hdmi, but i tried dvi with the same results. I switched to my 4k samsung and now I get a black screen after the amiga os 4.1 logo disappears and is about to go into wb. The only monitor the computer seems to like is a super wide lg monitor I have...Would love to get this in a standard ratio monitor.

Tried different cables and it's consistently either giving me an error on my HP monitor or going black right before wb on the samsung. The lg is works, but doesn't fill up the whole screen on any of the display resolutions.

Is there a safe mode to boot into on os4.1? Definitely feels like a driver issue and not a hardware one. I have the latest radeon hd drivers installed as well as the enhancer pack. Thanks for the input guys.

Have you tried submitting a ticket to AmigaKit?  Weren't they working pretty actively with you in your other thread?  I'd like to hear some input from them - i.e., if they could at least tell you what model of monitor they tested the system with prior to shipping to you, might be helpful.

Also, just a shot in the dark, but are you using a dual-link DVI or single-link DVI cable?  I've had a few systems (not Amiga's) in the past that were picky about this.  Good luck!  :)

I finally got it to boot on my 4k samsung. Not 4k resolution, but 1920x1080. I had to go into devs, monitors and go into info on the readeon preset and commented out the 2560 resolution and just have 1920x1080. One battle at a time, but I finally got it on the monitor I wanted it. Now I have to go through my list and figure out a whole bunch of weird things I'm not used to in 4.1 fe.. Thanks again.

I've used 1080p on three Dells and a couple of HP's at 1920x1200 very well
on my x5000 with radeon R7 250x

As you try (learn) the OS4 and the newest crop of Amiga programs, Enjoy!

i'm planning on giving 4K another shot this weekend with the updated RadeonHD driver included in the enhancer software bundle from A-EON. i know it's worked in the past, though, since we had 4K running at amiwest last year.
