Going to stop interacting with you now.  You have mentioned the bible and abortion so I am going to assume you are religious, which means you are probably mentally sub-normal

Plus you quoted a Daily mail article.

No, we appear to be talking about laws protecting children from abusive parents and their connection to bestiality.

But apparently that is somehow related to eBay scams (who knew?). :hammer:

Basically some SJW type in Canada got court ruling to have her (or should that be they, apparently she identifies as non-binary) newborn's gender listed as unknown/unidentified on the birth certificate.  Her argument was that the child could choose their gender identity when they were able to speak.
BigD read about it in the Daily Mail and got triggered.  Somebody mentioned that spelling mistakes in the listing should have given it away as scam, a Canadian user chimed saying that he often made spelling mistakes.  BigD got triggered again and decided to vent.

I gotta admit, I don't get the non-binary thing, and I'd even go as far as admitting that BigD may have a point about genetic identity.
But I don't involve myself in issues related to other's sexuality.

The idea of not identifying the gender of children at birth seems a bit off, but what are you going to do?

It could make the child's life even more confusing, not having a default to fall back on.

Nothing what so ever, except in BigD's mind.
But its an interesting diversion.

I wish we could all be a woolly Pro-Corbyn lefty weirdo but some of us actually have standards and actually think that gender confusion is a possible sign of abuse which should be flagged up by teachers. People like you but pressure on teachers to be all PC and the vulnerable kids are actually encouraged to have their genitals mutilated rather than have the counselling they need. Laugh it up, but your moronic beliefs lead to this suffering.

I'm quite to the left of BigD, and a (just say it) liberal. I have close friends and relatives that are gay (and no, this isn't the moral equivalent of saying 'some of my best friends are black').
But...I think I'm on the cusp of agreeing with BigD on this matter, at least in part because you can't 'reassign' someone's sex via surgery.
That IS determined by genetics.
I don't care who you love, but self mutilation driven by a personal fixation does seem to qualify as a mental disorder.

I know this view isn't PC, but it is in line with the stated policies of the World Health Organization (of the United Nations)

Are we so obsessed with appearance that we now not only sanction this behavior for adults, but we encourage it in children?

And is a man that has had surgery to alter his physical appearance actually a woman (or vice versa)?
Frankly, it borders on ludicrous to insist that this is the case, and liberal or not, I'm not comfortable with being forced to have to address the matter in the politically correct manner.

SO, again, we are WAY off topic, but even if I can't agree with BigD on a matter of personal belief like religion, on basic biology I think he has a point.

Gays I can accept, cross dressing? ...well, I like Eddie Izzard , so...its a little out there, but no one's hurt.
Self mutilation because of something you can't control...nah.
Can't buy into it.

In biology there's this thing - genotype vs phenotype.
Easily adapted here:

Sex (genotype): this (medically certified)
Sex (phenotype): this (or that or that other one or undetermined or whatever - to each his own)

In this brave new world I'm sure someone will soon come up stating "I'm a 73%-27%" or "64%-36%" or "x% - (100-x)%" now that simply stating "non-binary" is already passé.
It's time for exact science.

...

Gah.

Gah.

Phenotype def. posted on the web - the set of observable characteristics of an individual resulting from the interaction of its genotype with the environment.

NOT - the best description, basically, variations possible within a genetic constraint.

So, exact science?
Pretty much.
Sex is completely controlled genetically.
One chromosome is contributed by your mother and is always X, the other is from your father and can be X or Y.
Got a Y chromosome, you are a male.
Males are not males because they look like males (nor are females women purely because they appear to be).

Phenotypes? Well, they don't actually play a role in this.
There are some 'mistakes' that occur occasionally (hermaphrodites, men born that physically appear to be women but have blind vaginas, etc), but the basic template is uniform for all mammals.

Now the psychological aspects of our sexual identity? That's far more complicated.

But to make an old observation, "You can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear".

To clarify this, cosmetic alterations do not change an organism's nature.
And an inverted penis is not a vagina, its just a mutilated sex organ.

I'm OK if you want to make body alterations, just don't try to force me to join you in your belief that you've altered yourself into something you can't be.

After two semesters of biology and one each of anatomy, physiology, genetics, and psychology (all of which are subjects that affect this discussion), I'm pretty comfortable with taking this non-PC stance.
Because it IS based on science, not someone's personal 'feelings' or belief.

Have you ever thought about obtaining an informed opinion of your own? How about reading a RANGE of different newspapers to get a balanced view and actually thinking about the implication of your wacko ideas when they are used as policy in the REAL world?

I think it would do you good and you'd be far less likely to lash out with all your Tourettes nonsense!
