Floppy drive alignment

Is there anyone in the USA that does floppy alignment?

I've got 4-5 that need some help.

Are you sure it's an alignment problem or is the head getting slow from needing cleaning and or a bit of of lubrication.

I would seriously doubt that it is alignment.  It is cleaning, most likely the track 0 sensor.  Look on youtube, there a few great video to show you how to clean them.

I've got a pile of drives myself that need help. If you find the links please share.

i've managed to align one myself, with no special tools. it was the upper head (iirc, lower head cant move left-right). anyway, I've loosened the screws, and 'activated' the drive (so the two heads touch without the diskette) and carefully moved the upper head right above the lower one. then try. if it fails, rinse, repeat.

I'm pretty sure it's alignment.  I had mechy look them over and he agreed.

As said, you can do all that yourself if you have a working (aligned) second drive. Or know at least someone who can create a calibration floppy for you from such a drive. It's not ideal, but it works for "home use".

I've got a couple of "new" drives on the way that should fix me up.

Will see how good that "home alignment" aminet package really is.

That or the drives or just plain worn out...

I have never tried it. It is for disk speed instead of head alignment.
