Directory Opus on Windows

Does anyone use this for their pc?
I downloaded a trial but not sure what it benefits over existing.

I only ask in an Amiga forum because, well, you can see why right?

I have dopus 11 on my pc
but i rarely use it....

been using it for years on my PC and absolutely live it! have it set up 2 pane Amiga style so what's not to like if you're a DOpus fan on Amiga

Dopus is usefull on old systems like xp when you are copying lots of files and folders. Last thing you want is it to fail on one file or folder and then not give you the option to skip then you have to start all over again or work out what files have not been copied

Worth every penny in my opinion. Infinitely configurable.  From an Amiga angle, you can make it behave like DOpus 4 or DOpus 5. Slightly cheaper version is available if you're willing to sacrifice some options.

Because there are so many config options it can be a bit daunting to set up to your liking, but I literally cannot do any serious work without it. I find Windows Explorer to be an utter joke in comparison.

There are some pretty good videos from the Dev team on YouTube highlighting new features in major releases - check those out to get a feel for what it's like. Unfortunately they don't seem to have a general introduction/overview video.

I didn't know it existed, to be honest.  I vaguely remember using a clone called WinOpus in the Windows 3.1 era, and finding it a laughable attempt.

Is Directory Opus for Windows anything like Total Commander? I have been using the reg'd version of TC for years.

Directory Opus is great on any platform. I used it on the TriCaster.

I have been using the Windows version for years. Excellent program. I think I have really only scratched the surface on it's capabilities and configuration potential. Imagine the last Amiga version (5.82?) with 10+ years of further development and you have the Windows version.

Only down side is the price of upgrades. Pretty expensive.

no its much more advanced. i use TC myself because it is the closest thing to dopus 4 i could come...
I purchased dopus when it was in version 8 some time ago. but i never got around to configure it. i just want to use it. that's why i use TC. it works out of the box, minimalistic configuring...

I'm also itching to try Dir Opus (both the old and newer open source versions) on the latest version of AmigaOS.

DOpus on Windows is awesome - I have mine set up to launch MODO and LightWave standalone rendering, convert image sequences to ProRes using ffmpeg, encode .mp4s using x264, rip audio streams from videos and more. All with nice, bespoke controls/drop-downs etc.

If you run any command line stuff on Windows, DOpus is a great place to control it from.

I actually *LOVE* Directory Opus 11 (I haven't upgraded to 12 yet) and use it every day. It's got a ton of features that make is a joy to use, much better than Windoze Explorer. I've been using Directory Opus since 2010.

I use FreeCommander on window's, a light dopus alike clone and it's free :- ) ( but a bit old now i suppose)  anyway works for my use.
