New IDE hardware for the A2000
« on: June 05, 2017, 01:30:49 AM »
Ordered one of these yesterday.  No way I'm paying what ebay gougers want for a Buddah flash IDE.   It has 4 ide ports and a CF adapter built in.  It's called the IDE4 Zorro II, and is made by the same guy developing the HC508 accelerator.

Very interesting.... how many clams did that set you back if I may ask? Where is it shipped from?
Looks like it probably "just works" - which would be great.
I'm real tired of fighting with my Buddha Flash thingamajig! :( Maybe I can sell it for mad money on greedBay!

Thanks for the post kirk_m!! :)

It can be found on Amedia computer in France.  It cost about $90 USD.  However, shipping from France via UPS was ridiculously high...$50!
Even still, it was much less than what the last Buddha sold for on Fleabay (almost $400!)

IDE4 Z2 - A 4 unit IDE controller for Amiga 2000
IDE4 Z2 is a Gayle compatible 4 unit IDE controller, designed for Amiga 2000. It supports 4 IDE devices on two ports (primary and secondary). Without any additional driver the primary port is active (Kickstart 2.05+ is required with scsi.device). IDEfix driver is required to enable the second port or to use a CD / DVD device (as the default scsi.device in ROM doesn't support it).

CF master / slave mode is selectable via a jumper. Connector for IDE activity LED is also available. The controller is RDB compatible: HDToolBox and HDInstTools can be used for disk partitioning.

Compatibility list, tested hardware in an Amiga 2000:

Blizzard 2040   ok
Blizzard 2060   ok
GVP G-Force 030 (Impact A2000-030 Combo Series II)   ok
GVP TekMagic 2060   ok

This is made by the same person that developed the HC508 accelerator, which is now also for sale.

Well, I might as well get one. I should be able to recoup the cost by selling the Buddha Flash.

I didn't even know about these products... not even from the usual Amiga tech blogs...
here's the project site.... http://amigaprj.blogspot.com/ All of which are available from Amedia.

$400.00 bucks!!!! Dayam!

P.S. I wonder if this IDE board will work with a True IDE CF adapter on the primary port? That would be great! :) Then I could have 3 CF cards installed! One in the CF port and two on the primary port.

P.S.S. Man, I have so much brand new Amiga 500, 1200, 2000 gear sitting boxes it's crazy 'cause I keep needing this, that or the other thing to make the stuff fit or work! Just bought one of these http://www.ebay.com/itm/Commodore-Amiga-CDTV-A500-8MB-RAM-Board-/322538391341?hash=item4b18c9472d:g:78EAAOSwSypY9~Ze but there's NO WAY it will fit with an Indie ESC - ordered more sh!t to fit it in the A500 today - but that's for another post! :)

Also ordered this stuff.....

http://www.ebay.com/itm/HxC-USB-Floppy-Disk-Drive-LCD-BUZZER-for-Amiga-Amstrad-CPC-Atari-ST-Gotek-/262810826926?hash=item3d30bef8ae:g:Q9gAAOSwiwVWR7QT

http://www.ebay.com/itm/111362377044?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

And this for whenever Jens gets the Amiga Reloaded finished!

http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=1285

And a bunch of NOS software and adapters from China! I have a DECEASE!!!!! :roflmao:

Oh, and if I get a new floppy drive from Amedia too, I can FINALLY put the A1200, in my sig, back together!!! The MB was an AT board but it is long gone so can't use the AT Floppy on the rev 1B MB that Anthony Hoffman repaired for me in Antarctica like 2 years ago! It's my favorite A1200!

Just ordered these from Amedia.....

https://www.amedia-computer.com/en/accueil/273-ide4-zorro-2-board-for-amiga-2000.html

https://www.amedia-computer.com/en/hardware/51-amiga-internal-floppy-disk-drive-a1200-a600.html

Yup.... $200 smackers and $50 for shipping! Dang shipping!

Thanks for posting this. I am all over one of these since my GVP card in my A2000 is a bit flaky.

Saw someone post about them this morning over on the big Amiga Facebook group. Meant to share here but only got as far as saving a screenshot, lol. ;)

It's pretty frustrating how infrequently and haphazardly new product announcements get posted over in this forum. :(

Nice to see. Don't seem to be able to 'add to cart' though. Does that mean it's sold out already?! :/

Possibly.  Write the store owner, he speaks very good English and replies quickly.

Yes, already sold out! I just received this EM this morning... So, you may have to wait until stock is replenished. :( Two more weeks? :hammer: Oh well, I've been working on this A2000 for nearly 8 years, I think I can wait!

"Thank you for your order on webshop for the new 4IDE board !

As we were in Switzerland since Friday afternoon for the Amiga Ouf Party 4 (where we have also talked with some Apollo team's members), we have not been able to answer to all mails received this weekend !

Above all, we have received many many many more orders on the 4IDE boards than expected (the conceptor is very happy with that) !

The result is that we'll not be able to supply all orders from this weekend since it has exceeded our stock available.

Viktor (the conceptor) is currently making a new production and waiting for the new PCB, but it will take some time.

Since there has been many orders on this product (best sales of the last 8 days !), we would advise you to keep your order valid at our shop and as soon as we'll receive our new stock, we'll send all the missing orders (all over the world).

Do you agree with that please ?"

Ah well, looks like i'll have to be a bit more patient then. Just goes to show what a healthy market there is for classic Amiga hardware though, which can only be a good thing :)

I agree.  I found out about it by chance only when I asked in Amibay if anyone had a Buddha flash to sell.  A Hungarian guy replied that a friend of his was making an IDE controller that would soon be available, and pointed me towards a Hungarian blog post/review.  I googled the product name and found it available on only one retail site.  The person who devised it has a thread on EAB about his accelerator project (50 MHz 68000 board with CF and IDE header for the a500's side expansioncard edge) which is also for sale on amedia.

Yep Mine shipped too! Will be nice to try this out. Time to shop for an IDE CD-ROM if all goes well and replace the SCSI one I have installed.
