Commodore Retro eXpo (CRX) 2017
« on: April 30, 2017, 01:23:25 AM »
We just launched the website for Commodore Retro eXpo (CRX) today!

http://www.commodoreretroexpo.com

This  will be the premiere Commodore event in the U.S. for 2017, attracting  guest speakers, vendors, and attendees from all over the world.  CRX is  being filmed by mWaveStudios for "The Commodore Story" Kickstarter  project that was recently successfully funded.  Lots of surprise guests  will be on hand for presentations and interviews.

Free admission to the public!  Free parking at the event location.

This 3 day event will be held July 28-30, 2017 at the luxurious Alexis Park Resort in Las Vegas, NV.

Due to the anticipated number of people attending this event, we have increased the size of the room for this event by another 20%.  We now have capacity for up to 520 attendees.  If we need more space (which could likely be the case at this rate), the Alexis Park Resort can offer another 50% increase in room size.

@JimDrew

doesn't this date conflict with CommVEx that weekend? or was CommVEx cancelled?

Maybe they should just incorporate the two.
CommVEx attendance has been down the last few years, so if someone else can draw additional people...

Personally...even though I acknowledge that Commodore introduced the first PC readily available at retail outlets, and one of the most popular hobbyist computers (the C64), I don't have much interest in the company myself.
Jay Miner, the Amiga, with a little consideration for the latter developments (too late, too little, under some REALLY crappy management...).
For me, its Motorola, the 68K, and screw that MOS crap.

It seems both shows are going on at the same time.  I have tickets to fly out and am excited to attend both.

To my knowledge, CommVEx has not been cancelled.  No, it doesn't "conflict".  CRX is the solution to a dying event.  99% of  the sponsors, vendors, and regular attendees of CommVEx pulled out to  create this new event.  Everyone was fed up with how CommVEx was being  run.  This has been an ongoing battle for the last few years, and  it finally escalated to the point where something had to be done about it,  resulting in CRX.

We deliberately chose the same weekend because a  lot of people had already booked flights/hotels, and wanted to attend  CRX - not CommVEx.  It will be interesting to see how many people  actually show up a CommVEx.

We have mWaveStudios coming from the  U.K. to film the CRX event for their Kickstarter project "The Commodore  Story".  We will have many special guests that will be there to make  presentations and conduct interviews for the book/DVD.

We are  expecting hundreds of people to attend, and over the weekend we  increased the size of the meeting room to accommodate 520 people.  If we  need more space, we can double the room size.

CRX is being held  at a really nice resort that is family-friendly, offering 3 pools, a  spa, cabanas, work out facility, a 5 star restaurant, lounge, etc.  This  place is super nice.  Free parking, and free admission to CRX.  It's a  great location to bring your family while you play with Commodore  stuff!  We have special room rates for this all-suite resort.  If you  are interested in booking a room, let me know and I can give you  details.

Good luck with the show! Glad you got it all worked out. Sounds like there was some drama which is unfortunate.

I can't afford to come this year but hopefully it will be enough of a success for you to do it next year and then I will do my best to come. The location sounds great. Long live Commodore 8-bit and Commodore history!

It's less than 2 weeks away!  We just increased the size of the venue to accommodate the number of people who are coming!

Although for me that would be anywhere in the Washington, DC metropolitan region.  C'mon, 70% of the world's Internet traffic flows through my backyard, surely we're big enough for at least one show, right?  ;)
