IBrowse 2.5 finally on its way?
« on: April 03, 2017, 04:07:18 PM »
taking a look through some amiga web sites this weekend, i noticed the following over at ibrowse-dev.net:

Quote
IBrowse 2.5 FAQ and History Log - No fools here :-)
As we move closer towards a new IBrowse release, we've updated the FAQ a little and uploaded an unedited history log of all the changes made since IBrowse 2.4 was released (these will both be updated at various times in the future as development continues).

still no CSS or anything huge like that, but at least all of the SSL issues we've had for years are solved, plus loads of fixes, minor updates to the UI, a native AOS4 version, and more. i know we now have native AOS3 and AOS4 versions of netsurf, but ibrowse performance is terrific on 68K machines especially.

anyone else excited for the upcoming release? :)

@jdryyz

based on the FAQ the update might be a paid one. looks like oliver hasn't made his mind up on that one. since there's a native AOS4 build, i would think they'd want to allow new purchasers. at least i hope.

ibrowse may be able to show aw.net, amiga-news.de and aminet, but thats probably about it. sorry to say.

a1k.org aswell, at least until the next software upgrade. And os4depot should work too (without colors), IIRC.

For amiga.org, Karlos wrote a Proxy that 'translates' amiga.org's output into something IBrowse can use: http://aoproxy.extropia.co.uk/

If you set your profile on amiga.org, eab.abime.net and others to use their respective mobile themes, you can use them on iBrowse. I've done it with EAB and nearly sure amiga.org worked that way too.
