Since my project to put my cf adapters in old 3,5" internal hd caddies I had to figure out something else.
Hmm, why not use a old cd-rom. Have a bunch of those as well lying around.
The candidate:

a old 32x ordinary cd rom. But the interesting part is that it has those spring loaded covers:

Should be a straight forward process, remove the internals:

Drill some holes and add M3 0,5 threads:

Add ordinary pc motherboard standoffs:

And there I hit the first problem, the standoffs wasn't tall enough. There was not enough room for the floppy power connector that powers the adapters.
The soution? 3x1 NOK coins as washers. The center hole is perfect size for M3 size bolts. And it adds value to the housing.

Just needed some tiny (cough) modifications and it was perfect:
