RIP GlenVanDenBiggelaar
« on: March 23, 2017, 01:18:58 PM »
Probably not my place to post this as I've never really dealt with the man, but I've just learned through the Coco mailing list that Glen VanDenBiggelaar (of The Amiga Lounge and The Coco Lounge) has passed away.

RIP Glen, my condolences to family and friends.

That is very sad news and indeed a shock to hear.  He was a long standing customer, very friendly and a delight to serve over the last  decade.

Our ranks are getting slowly smaller.

RIP Glen.

Ohh man. That is sad to hear. Especially given the fact that the Lounge was not doing well prior to this. A case of natural causes and nothing more I hope.

RIP Glen

Condolences to his family and friends. R.I.P. Glen.
:(

I used to enjoy reading his blogs, and I was about to thank him for that when it occured to me it is too late now. So, right now I'd like to thank the creators/maintainers of all Amiga related websites, shops, blogs, software and hardware and also end-users and forum members - you are all equally important and all make our Amiga community the thriving healthy and fascinating wonderful hobby that it is.

I recently chatted with Glen. I had a deposit for an Amiga 4000 before the lounge went under, which I eventually just considered a donation as he seemed to be having a tough time of it financially. I emailed him to see if he had any Amigas either in stock or coming soon. He said all he had was various Coco stuff. Usually we'd have pretty good chats but this time he didn't seem like himself. I just wrote it off as catching him on a bad day.

My condolences to his family and friends. Always sad to lose another enthusiastic member of the Amiga community.

I enjoyed his blogs, too. Was just scrolling through some of the pictures on his Facebook (now a memorial page), he really looks to have gone downhill pretty fast, the past few years. It could happen to any of us... He sure looked to have had an interesting life, though! RIP. :(

I didn't realize he ran a site for Cocos.
Pity, I have an Altera DE-1 set up to emulate that.

After all, my preference (because of when I started in computing) has always been for Motorola cpus.
