Indivision MK2 A1200 Analog Noise
« on: March 17, 2017, 02:16:32 AM »
Whenever I use my Indivision with the analog VGA Output, I get image ghosting and a little bit of a ripple/fuzzy effect.

Tried using 2 different DVI to VGA adapters same result.

Im using a modified ATX PowerSupply with my Amiga.

If I use the digital output (straight DVI) image is perfect.

Any tips for resolving issue ?

I think these could be possible reasons -

a/ Not the right DVI to VGA adapter
b/ Ribbon cable not shielded between Invision and output.
c/ Bad grounding from modified ATX powersupply.

The person on this thread talks about making a custom cable to solve distortion when using a DVI-to-VGA adapter:

...IMHO I'd just use a DVI or HDMI display.  VGA is so 1990's, LOL.

Yeah I was thinking this was heading into the direction of a custom cable.

I have a few 4:3 VGA LCD monitors lying around not doing anything and widescreen looks a bit odd to me on an Amiga..   currently borrowing a widescreen DVI monitor from my 3 monitor pc setup.

As suggested you only need a good quality shielded VGA cable. Be sure that it's equipped with ferrite beads (these little cylinders at both ends).

I have never tested my Indivision with vga but i remember that the dvi picture was bad before i used the config tool and set it to output only dvi instead of dvi+vga.
Maybe it helpt the other way too? setting it to vga output only (if there is a selection for that)

I had my Indivision set in the config tool for DVI/VGA and it gave a noisy picture when using VGA.  Once I changed the output to VGA only it cleaned the picture up completely.
