Mui is wonky

Hi all, can anyone tell me why my MUI is so wonky. When I open it up the type is so small I can not even see what is what.  Then I go in and adjust the fonts, but when I change to the next theme, like from "Button" to "Windows" it forgets the last setting and it's like I am starting all over again. I never get to where anything is satisfactory.
Isn't there some sort of config file I can just drop in and have it come up correctly?

MUI is infinitely customizable.  Which can be both a blessing and I curse, I suppose.  Lol.  You might start by saying what version you're using and what screen resolution you're running it at.  Also is this a fresh install or something old?  Maybe try posting a few screenshots of exactly what you're seeing?  For example: which application are you using that you're having a problem with, etc.

Hi all (Mike),  I went away from this trying to do it on my own.   but I am still in MUI hell.
Nothing looks like it should when I am using any program that needs to use it.  Right now Yam
is completely unreadable.  Question, does  nen need  t ohave a reqistered copy to run it correctly?
 Is it still possible to reqister the softwar?  Is there  a config file that you can just plug in.  Here's my
issue right now.  I go in and change all th e font settings so everything is readable.  But as soon as I
go out and then back it is all unreadable again.  Any suggestions woul d  be apprecited.

He wasn't responding to registrations for several years, but now he is again.

That being said, a registered version does allow additional customization but isn't required.  When you say "Nothing looks like it should", what are you basing that statement on?  Every app that uses MUI can look different.  Every person who uses MUI can set it up to look a different way.  There is no definite "it has to look this way" standard.  That's a *feature*.  

Why don't you post a few screenshots so people can see what you're looking at?

For a classic system you should be running 3.8 off Aminet. There's a few additional updates you can do on top of that but I'd avoid the newer 3.9/4.x versions unless you have at least an '040+graphics card.

I suspect he's confused between the main MUI settings vs the application-specific settings. A few screenshots and some additional information (version, etc.) would go wonders for sorting this out.

No, it doesn't. The difference between unregistered and registered MUI is that the latter can actually save your changes, while the former can only use them (i.e. they're lost when you reboot). Saving them can easily be accomplished manually by copying a file from ENV: to ENVARC: though...

No, that's not true. Mike is right. MUI demo saves all options you can change. But many options are greyed out and cannot be changed.

Hello All,  Well all I can say is thanks for all the input.  I went back and re-installed MUI 3.8.  Guess
somewhere along the line I picked up a different install.  Now everything is visable and working
and looking like it should.  Honestly I am running OS 3.9 on a raspberry Pi with Amibian and displaying
Picasso96 and it is a real kick (except for the MUI). I recommend it for every one. Now don't get me
wrong.  I love my A1200 and use it constantly. But being able to run an Amiga system with 16 or 32 bit
graphics.  Very fast and super responsive is FUN. Not everything works as you might expect or hope
and it opens a whole different can of worms (which I won't bore you with) but it is fun.
