Accelerators for A2000
« on: January 09, 2017, 03:41:19 PM »
Been working on an A2000 and decided to drop an accelerator in it.

Now the question.  Which is better and why, accelerators that replace the cpu or accelerators that plug into the cpu slot?

Examples  replace the cpu-Mega Midget Racer
plug in the slot-Amaiga 2620

Accelerator that plugs into the slot. Hands down. You'll have more options, better airflow, many have optional SCSI, etc. Etc. Only reason for one that plugs into the 68000 socket is if you're moving from an A500 and have one leftover, or if your slot is somehow damaged (battery leakage, etc.).

I like the a2620, I used to have one but the only problem with it is that it only has a maximum of 4mb of ram and maps what it does have in Zorro 2 address space

For sure go with the CPU slot boards not the 68k ones. Much better reliability and spacing.
