[LOOKING FOR] Amiga 1000 JU-363-03 floppy drive button.
« on: January 03, 2017, 01:24:08 PM »
Hi to All,

I have found an Amiga 1000 that was supposed to be not working... but she is!!! :)
She is an "old" NTSC Amiga... I have changed the accu and now she is back to life again!
The old accu is out of duty and anyway for 110V market so not easy to use in EU... I tested it with an inverter but it is really out.

Now I would like to restore her to full beauty but she is missing:
° the eject button for JU-363-03 floppy drive;
° the 2 logos on the upper left side;
° the "Commodore" on the down left side.

I am also looking for a "complete" Amiga 1000 disk drive to fullfilll an empty A1010 box.

Thank you for your help.

I wish you the best of luck! This is just my humble opinion but I've always hated the "Commodore" on the lower left of the European Amiga 1000s.  Does anyone else feel the same?  I always thought the Amiga 1000 had a great workstation look to it..maybe even noble. The ads for EA with Trip Hawkins was a good look for the Amiga 1000.

The first time I saw the word Commodore on a one it just seemed jarring.

No offense or anything to the OP.  :-)  Just my opinion.

Cheers!

I have seen some photos over internet WITHOUT the "Commodore" and, your are right, the Amiga seems more... professional...
Anyway I need a big amount of look at least for the button! :(

Well, if worst comes to the worst, there will be a printable version one day. Actually, that day is NOW. 3dhubs.com to find a printer local to you, after downloading the STL model file.

Printed parts usually don't look as good as extruded, unless they were done in ABS and then acetone smoothed. Less of an issue for a floppy button, I guess. Natural ABS rather than pure white, or maybe you can choose a colour that matches.

WHY you are trying to make a US A1000 look like a European one is beyond me, but each to their own.

Well... I didn't knew that US Amiga and EU Amiga were different from outside! Are they?
I "want" to use the Amiga without an inverter, and that's why I mounted an EU A1000 PSU (and also since the original PSU is dead!)... but I do not want to change anything else... :-o Only restore the Amiga to the original look!

About the 3D printing... I was thinking about it but I did not though things are so beyond! :) Thanx... but the one you sent is not the right button... I think it's for A1200 or A500... more common Amigas... :(
I am going to investigate.
And I have seen that you can ORDER the piece!!! :)

Well, I'm sorry if it's the wrong part, but it is labelled as an A1000 button.

It probably needs rotating 90 degrees (printers like to start printing on a big flat surface) but a competent service should be able to cope.

A more expensive, but finer material, to print with is UV reactive resin. It produces clear or translucent prints. You might want to consider that,

As for the cosmetic decision, it's yours to make. After thinking about it, if you've changed the PSU, then making it look EU does make some kind of sense.

Yes, no Commodore logo on NTSC Amigas.
