Not sure I understand what you're asking here.  You're saying the CD stops playing when the door hinge lifts up?  This seems pretty normal.  Need to look at the hinge & latch mechanism and figure out why it isn't staying closed.

You should also replace the capacitors, as CD32's suffer from the same problems as A1200/A4000, in that regard.

I know nothing of the CD32, but it does sound like an interlock switch problem. You'll need to take it apart and have a good look at the switch and actuator, and make according repairs or adjustments.

Repair the hinge. WD40 and/or take apart and put back together. It should be far smoother than that! Does it work when you weigh it down?

It's probably a misaligned spring. I've seen a few where the spring has been removed and the hinge no longer holds up the lid but the CD lid closes and works under gravity. Would be better to salvage the spring put if you have to remove it it should still work.

do those caps do any damage to motherboard if they start to leak?

Yes, they contain acid that burns the trace lines on the motherboard! However, if you are using it regularly you should notice weird behaviour if they start to go i.e. sound only out of one speaker etc. I should get mine checked out but it's getting the time. I have had my Video/Sound module recapped because the sound went funny but should have had the whole machine done I guess.

so you wish to say that; hinge is inside and she move from her place and need to be back in place? console works if you hold doors or put something to hold them down

Yes, hopefully the hinge can be cleaned, lubricated with WD40 and screwed/superglued back into place. It is all spring loaded and a fiddle but you should be able to fix it.

I know I'm immature but I just could't get over this one.

Nope. Haven't had that problem in decades :roflmao:

But seriously though. If you follow the instructions other's have written here, you should be good.

And most importantly, don't put your lubricated part in the CD32 and then close the door. :hammer::lol::banana:

@S0nic

It looks like the CD1200 prototype has the same problem as your hinge on the CD32!

When you perfect the repair procedure maybe you should offer your services to the Retro Computer Museum Leicester!
