Vampire V500 V2+ is alive !
« on: November 04, 2016, 11:58:30 AM »
Posted on Facebook by Apollo Team:

1. Rework on internal layers that will probably enable higher clocks. Now, 140.29MIPS on X14 clock
2. Modification on headers <->DIL to support much better connectors who will ensure stable connection to the Amiga motherboard
3. Tiny improvements on video-out again regarding internal layers
4. I/O expansion header with support for WiFi module (AP, client mode)
5. Logo update

In the last image, the 8-pin I/O Expansion header appears to have an ESP8266 WiFi module attached to it, which is only a few dollars. This could get interesting.

Anyone know if these are going to fit in a CDTV? The more I use mine the less I care about my A500. I have an 8MB RAM card on the way, the SCSI module, keyboard, mouse and joystick boards, gotek on DF0: and its super clean. Much nicer looking than the 500 at this point ;)

I would be also interested if this works with CDTV. But last time I heard, it didn't work if CDTV extended rom is enabled.

This really would make a CDTV ultimate Amiga.

I couldn't care a less about A500.

Have you seen this : http://retro.7-bit.pl/?lang=en&go=projekty&name=wicherek14plcc

Price is not yet know, but I wait it to be really economy, it works with CDTV.

All that work you think they'd come up with a better way to mount the CF rather than just leaving it hanging over the side.  Oh well, great work, anyway.  Cheers!

This should have been the first they made above the 600. So many models will be supported with it!

And the most salient question:

How much?

If the ebay auctions are any indication, pricing would be around $500-600 USD.

The current EBAY pricing is an auction price for early adapters who... "just gotta have it" and sold to the highest bidder to fund development so Majsta insn't killing himself.

The Vampire 500 is supposed to be at least $250 euro range, or a bit higher... but not $500 - 600. The previous pricing ($150) was at or below cost and not really manageable long term.

The team doesn't want to price gouge.
