Mounting an Indivision ECS in an A2000
« on: October 05, 2016, 12:41:38 PM »
I've been looking at an Indivision ECS, but one thought sticks in my mind: how does one mount the VGA cable after installation? It doesn't seem to come with a bracket to hold the connector up. Does anyone have any suggestions beyond just having the cable poke through the back of the case?

Just use a regular 'ole PC bracket and route the cable underneath the drive sled, that's what I did.

A neater option would be to drill or dremel an appropriate-size hole in the plate that covers the video card slot, but obviously that would be about five minutes more work, and preclude using that slot for anything else.

Some older VGA cards for PC have a bracket with hole which the VGA plug will fit nicely.  You might have to cut off the circuit board mounts though. Depending on how it's mounted.  Some just use the hex bolts to hold the card to the bracket.

For example: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ATI-3D-CHARGER-PCI-3D-RAGE-II-DVD-1997-vintage-graphics-adapter-card-/262632577753?hash=item3d261f1ad9:g:tjsAAOSwPCVX35Sk

I found an old pc backplane that had a 9 pin serial connector in it. Removed that and put in the Indivision VGA connector and just like Oldsmobile_Mike routed the cable under the SCSI card and out to the second backplane. Worked a treat. Nice thing about the A2000 is that it is so roomy.

My A2000 has nothing in the video slot and the video slot cover plate is missing. I actually just used one of the hex bolts from the VGA connector right in the screw hole for the cover plate and voila.
