It's necessary if you overclock it - Permedia 2 runs quite hot. Whopping def. 90 MHz (or something like) to about 100 MHz; I did it using a fan but didn't gain much as pic quality decreased quite soon.

I don't think Jack's friend is retarded whatsoever - I think it's very wise indeed to keep IC's cool. It will prolong the life of the card.

@LaserBack: CVision PPC gets very hot especially in the small space inside A4000D.

There is no problem if the new owner takes the coolers off, its up to anybody how they run treat own hardware.

I dont want to speak about the price everyone with enough inteligence can check current prices on the internet.

the premedia chips don't get hot never
and fact is the cybervision ppc is just a 5 w video card don't get hot not even overclocked to 5 ghz

ie the riva TNT2 is 10 x faster than this premedia card also don't need a heatsink

inserting a hearsink there is very stupid , and the price OP is wanting to sell the card is yet more stupid

He says he's open to offers if you're interested. Might be worth making him an offer?

Would you take an offer from someone who referred to you as "very stupid"?

I've seen these arguments before and I really don't get them. IMHO every chip on every Amiga should have a heatsink. They're so cheap, both my A500 & A2000 have loads of them. Why? Because our systems are 20+ years old and nearly irreplaceable, in most cases. Why shouldn't people do *everything possible* to preserve the life of these things?  :(

Ah I am sorry I just tested and card once again... YOU ARE RIGHT after 2 hours without heatsink gpu is completely cool, I would say temperature in Celsius is around the same level as your IQ score.

5 GHz you say? Well there is a overclocking parameter in the CGX driver, I changed value from 90 to 5000, but this is not working, black screen after reboot. But when I tried 4000 and this one works fine, thanks for a incredible speed boost tip!

Maybe we're all "limited", because I don't think any of us are finding you funny.
