Now i wonder about these .hdf -files?

What do i need to use it?
It does not work just double-clicking it...

They're hard drive files for UAE.  I don't know of any utilities to read one on an actual Amiga.  What you'd need to do is read it on a PC with UAE (or WinUAE, or whatever) and then copy the contents to an actual Amiga.

ADF Opus is also a quite handy little program. You can browse the contents of ADF and HDF files and extract the files inside.

HDF files can be mounted on a real Amiga:

XFS - multiple filesystem device

Oh cool!  I stand corrected.  You CAN mount an Amiga hard disk file on an actual Amiga, after all.  That's a great util to have.  Don't know how I missed it.

Thanks!

I was relieved when I saw someone had already mentioned xfs, saved me the trouble of testing and all. For years I've used it for my mounting problems, even the fat donkeys. Not irreplaceable, but simply best.
Some of those more mountfile-oriented .device ought to work too, but why bother with filling in lowcyl highcyl and so on.
So you have the strings in your palm. Do you know what they are for?
