Miracle Piano Spectrum 28/24 Picasso96

Hi,

I am trying to run the Miracle Piano SW on my A4000 equipped with the Spectrum 28/24 card and Picasso96. If I choose the 640 X 200 resolution 16bit 16 colors from newmode, the first couple of screens come up fine, but after I enter my name a choose to go to the first lesson, another newmode requestor pops up wanting a new screen mode, I have chosen several and either the program quit back to the desktop or I just get a black screen and the cursor, sometimes if I click around the screen I can get parts of it to display

Does any one know how I can find the correct resolution parameters it wants?


I guess I could just run it on my little A600, or try my A3000T with the CyberVision64/3D but now I'm interested in the resolution problem.

Perhaps I need to create a custom resolution, but how to tell which one it wants.

Hmm, older software may not like the 040. A guess.

I don't think I've ever 100% successfully promoted a program that insists on a native screen to an RTG board, but I think you'll get better results sticking to 8bit modes. Good thing about the Spectrum, though, is that it has passthrough for native modes. If you don't have a 15KHz display, try promoting to Multiscan:Productivity or DblNTSC, which might work better.

What would be a miracle is if I had the ability to play the piano without any prior practice whatsoever, just like Sparky did.

The problem with the pass-through on the Spectrum card is that it requires a little cable that goes from the output for the Amiga graphics to an input on the card and when I got the card I didn't get the little cable. I believe  The connector on the card is a nonstandard size as well.i'll probably have to look into having that cable made for me.

My current monitor is not 15 kHz compatible. I had a Samsung SyncMaster at One  Point but it died on me. Guess I'll have to look into another one.

I did try it on the A600 and it works just fine although it's a little slow.  I'm on the waiting list for a vampire 600, maybe that will speed it up a bit whenever they get some more in production.

The pass-through input on the Spectrum is a 9-pin connector. The best way to use it is in conjunction with something like an Indivision, or one of the older "flicker fixer" boards, such as the Microway Flickerfixer or the A2320. Then you can use a 15-to-9 pin cable between the output of the flickerfixer and the input on the Spectrum. All of your screenmodes will then display correctly on any modern monitor, and you won't need to worry about a 15KHz compatible monitor. Alternatively you can use one of the C= silver 23-to-15 pin adapters, then a 15-to-9 cable. Of course you'll need a 15KHz compatible monitor for displaying older screenmodes, with this option.
