A trip to New Zealand and Australia
« on: August 24, 2016, 03:54:56 AM »
In 9 days I depart for New Zealand and Australia. I’m going to meet Trevor Dickinson of A-EON (maker of the AmigaOne X1000) in Wellington, and
after a few days there, I head for Sydney and look around (taking day tours from Viator.com) and meet any Commodore and Amiga users there. Then it’s off to Adelaide for the September 16 Adelaide Amiga and Retro-Computing Event. I fly down to Melbourne for the September 18 Australian Amiga User Group meeting. I return to Sydney on September 20. Then on September 22, I leave Australia on the return flight back to San Francisco.

Here is my itinerary –

September 1 – Leave San Francisco for Wellington, New Zealand.

September 3 – Arrive in Wellington, NZ. Accommodations provided by Trevor.

September 8 – Depart Wellington and arrive in Sydney. Accommodations at Hotel 59, 59 Bayswater Road, Rushcutters Bay, NSW

September 13 – Depart Sydney and arrive in Adelaide. Accommodations at Jasper Motor Inn, 17 Jasper Street, Hyde Park, SA

September 17 – Depart Adelaide and arrive in Melbourne. Accommodations at Monash Hotel, 2077 Dandenong Road, Clayton, VIC

September 20 – Depart Adelaide and arrive in Sydney. Accommodations at Hotel Ibis Budget St. Peters, 178 Princes Highway, St Peters NSW

I look forward to meeting all good Commodorians and Amigans in my journey. If you are in any of the areas to which I will be traveling, feel free to contact me at my hotels.

Truly,
Robert Bernardo

I imagine catching up with Trevor and checking out his impressive computer collection would be quite cool. I'm down in Christchurch, not on your travel itinerary but if you ever get down this way I'd be happy show you my Amiga collection.
I just purchased all this off a local collector and I'm looking forward to adding it to my existing smaller Amiga collection.

If I had an extra day or so in NZ, I could have made that change in my flight schedule.  As it is, I only have a short layover in Auckland before going to Wellington.

As Trevor Dickinson dropped me off at the Wellington Airport yesterday, he confirmed that he is coming to the Adelaide Amiga & Retro-Computing Event on Friday, September 16.

I have now checked into room 4 of the Jasper Motor Inn in Hyde Park, just about 4 km. from the Adelaide Amiga & Retro-Computing Event venue at Eastwood Community Centre.
