Opening an Amiga for the first time!
« on: August 04, 2016, 10:55:23 AM »
An A600 that is :-)

So I have a replacement A600 that looks to have never been opened!

Looks to have no hard disk and version 2.something kickstart, so it'll be getting :

A604n
Indivision ECS
Subway USB
Card Flash IDE thingy
Vampire2 (Black) that I found laying around ;-)

If it all looks good after that I'll have the modulator removed, the HDMI/VGA run neatly out (somehow) and the USB ports also run neatly to the back.

Get a recap on it. I dont care how good it looks. Commodore used garbage caps on the 600, 1200 and 4000 as far as I am concerned. It doesnt take a lot of money to do and saves the machine. I can promise you they will start to fail sooner than later.

Finally! There's someone else out there who ISN'T going to replace the original ROM chip to 3.1! I praise you sir! :)

Unless that card flash thingy replaces it? boo!!!

Nice Amiga BTW. ;)

Not this nonsense again.  ;)

He says he's going to be adding USB - does the Poseidon USB stack even work with 2.x?  How about the new monitor drivers for the Vampire2?

I'll just leave these links here about the benefits of upgrading.  You too, can have the top-of-the-line Amiga ROM chip, circa 1994.  All for the princely sum of under $20 USD.

Poseidon will not work since it requires KS3.0 as minimum, but ANAIIS on the other hand will work. In theory it should be possible to use the Vampire2 monitor drivers with OS2.1. Softkicking to KS3.1 is also an option.

I think the usage of the term "Violating" in this context has the same meaning as "Popping the cherry".
Also, the title is used in jest. Replacing it with something else directly or through coercion would actually be a violation.

How about if he changes it to 'Violating a virgin Amiga!' Then without a doubt no one would ever think that Sparky was talking about raping an actual woman.

Come on chaps, give Sparky a break!

People also said an A600 couldn't have an internal optical drive, etc. Never say never.
