Dead 1084S
« on: August 02, 2016, 08:39:35 AM »
I've sold my Amiga stuff -- only thing I have left is a 1084S.

It was working when I put it away many years ago. Now it is non-responsive.

If anyone thinks they can fix it or if it is useful for parts -- free + shipping.

Not a lot of people fixing those these days. Its one of the things I dont like to touch myself. More than likely its the flyback. They go bad an can be found on ebay or online from time to time for about $20-$50. Too much voltage in those monitors for me though!

Ottawa, Canada but would be able to ship out of New York state as I make the trip down there to ship stuff at least once a week.

I figure it is a long-shot that anyone would be fixing these up but the alternative is just taking it in to a recycling place so figure might as well ask. If there is no interest in the next week or two I'll just dispose of it.

I found electrician who repaired mine 1084s, by replacing that flyback thingy. you can find cheap new chinese flybacks.

there is this nice site about repair: http://www.jammarcade.net/commodore-1084s-p1-repair-part-ii/

but better get a pro to fix it.
Better sorry than worry.

Have you contacted the Toronto Pet User Group?  http://tpug.ca  Perhaps someone there can fix it or take it away.

I haven't but if I have time I'll try to make an account and a posting.

Shipping in Canada is relatively expensive compared to shipping within the United States so despite being in the same province Ottawa to Toronto is about the same as Ogdensburg, NY to anywhere in the United States.
