Timberwolf Data Storage Interrupt
« on: July 05, 2016, 03:04:12 AM »
I've tried to use Timberwolf on the FS-UAE emulator (v 2.6.2 ?) and OS4.1FE Classic, on Linux Mint 17.3.

It always gives a "Data Storage Interrupt" and the splash screen stays until I close the emulator.  The browser never loads.  Might this be related to running it in Classic, or in the emulator?

Other software I've tried in the emulator seems unstable, too.  Sorry I can't be more specific.  It's probably been a couple of months since I had a chance to mess with it.

@tonyd

it's probably emulator issues. TW works fine on my peg2 and X5K, although fairly slow on the former. i've also noticed other things that work fine on real NG systems don't work in UAE.

Did you install it correctly? IIRC you first need to install an older version and then place the latest release on top of it (or at least grab the missing files from the older archive before launching it)

I have never tested it on winuae btw and it's been quite a long time since i "installed" it so there might be other steps required.

@eliyahu
Glad to hear it may be an emulator issue.  When I'm not broke, I would like to try an NG system.

@smf
I just followed their instructions.  I don't know anything about installing an older version first.  Where would I find information on that?

@tonyd

I tested it yesterday on a pretty clean & fresh installation(on real HW) to make sure this method worked:

Download timberwolf rc1 from aminet http://aminet.net/comm/www/timberwolf.lha and extract it.

Download timberwolf rc3? from os4depot http://os4depot.net/share/network/browser/timberwolf.lha and extract it to the same directory as rc1 to overwrite the old files

Follow the instructions to fix the fonts and launch TW. If it doesn't work i guess it's emulation problems or you're out of ram.

Thanks.  I'll give it a shot.
