Obtaining all tasks

Is there a piece of software that will display all the tasks on the Amiga (68060 running 3.9)?  I mean ALL the tasks in all queues, running, waiting, etc.  For example, I open a shell window and also open the clock.  I issue the STATUS command and I do not see the clock in the list of tasks.  STATUS ALL displays the same as just STATUS.

If there is no program to do this, I can walk the lists.  However, how would I determine the address of the headcell for each list?

I don't know of one that "guarantees" to display everything.  I've always used a combination of programs like SysInfo, Scout, Commodities Exchange, Executive, some various command line utilities, etc.  Maybe something like SnoopDos?  I think you're going to wind up wanting to use a combination of a couple different applications to capture all info.

i really, really wish there was something like ranger on OS3. it does exactly the sorts of things you need. i have the commercial version on all my next-gen machines. unfortunately it's only for OS4. maybe we could pester ssolie for a backport?

in the interim both scout and snoopdos are probably good starting points.

really dont understand whats wrong with scout, snoopdos, artm or whatever else there was. i doubt, we need another utility like that ported over from os4, even if it was actually an option. which it hardly is given the incompatibilities between the systems. snoopdos as example isnt usable on os4 afair, even if it works on sros68k perfectly well. same for other of those 68k apps.

ARTM might be your best bet.

If you run executive, that has specific tools to do some of that also...

Scout is the best. It can display all tasks and more.

You could also, in addition to all the good suggestions above, try Executive (key freely available). It is a scheduler that comes with several utilities, including Commander and Top, which lists tasks.

No, Executive is perfectly 3.1 compatible but since it changes the task scheduling algorithm some programs might not work out of the box.

I agree. I've used Executive for years, never had any issues with it whatsoever. It comes highly recommended!

Yep :) I just figured that you were talking about ARTM although you quoted Executive, thinking that you meant Executive is somewhat incompatible in 3.1... :)

Nicest non-MUI program I've come across in ages, and I like that it doesn't spawn sub-windows.
