Black Boot screen after installing Kick 3.1 Rom.
« on: June 01, 2016, 07:47:08 PM »
Greetings again!

This time I have some problems with the Kickstart 3.1 rom in purchased from amigakit .

When I turn on the machine , all I see is a black screen ,

But I can still play games and disks are booting ok.

The motherboard is a Rev 6A.

Does anybody else had this issue ?

Best regards , Marius

A500 I assume? Black screen is normal for 3.1, while older versions used white. As long as you can boot (and the insert disk screen comes up if you don't have a bootable disk), then everything is fine.

When you turn on the system with no disk inserted and no hard drive attached, you should get a screen similar to this after a few moments:

Assuming everything else works correctly, the ROM is inserted correctly and you're not using some weird TV or display device that can't show that screen, or that takes a long time to power up, I would assume you have a defective ROM.

Mmmmhhh... pay attention: Kickstart 3.1 expects to have IDE drive attached (even for A500 versions), so it delays a lot before showing the startup screen.
The same issue happened on A1200 version with no HD installed: in KS 3.1 timeout for IDE has been increased to 30s.
So try waiting 30s and check if you see the picture above.

It happened the same to me when installing onto an A600 with no HD.

Cheers,

Well guys it looks like i found the problem.

I have a DF0 Switcher in this machine , and for some odd reason it's interrupting the boot screen Image.

To get the boot screen visible, I had to go to the dual-boot menu, and
select the floppy disk. While the DF0 switcher was set to the floppy.

Thank you all for helping!!
