Disappointed in my Individual MK2cr

Hi All I bought an Individual MK2cr for my A1200 and I am disappointed in it's
performance.  I was using it on an BENQ 937 21 inch monitor.  First it can not switch
on the go from NTSC to Pal.  If your amiga display can not due that then why use it?
Second it does not display certain programs or views unless I load the WB with original
Chipset, weird. Or if I try looking at images from a program like VT after a few displays it
stops being able to display the images.  Just says signal not detected.  I switched monitors
to my Commodore 1950 and got basically the same results.  So I am open to suggests, advice, help.  I am contacting my reseller as instructed but would like to hear from anyone else
who might understand my issues.

IMHO I haven't had to use a PAL mode in I can't even remember how long. I guess for some old games and such, but WHDLoad takes care of that. Are you sure your monitor supports 50Hz screenmodes?

I don't understand the other questions you're asking. Maybe the card is overheating, or not seated properly? Many users install a fan if using a desktop A1200 chassis. Do a google image search for ideas on fan mounting.

The config tool for the AGA version is a lot more fussy than the ECS version, but have you tried fiddling with that?

Mke, appreciate the feedback.  But I have a number of Graphics programs that will not run
in NTSC mode. I am way into graphics and I want to use my Amiga to do that kind of work.
Lots of images are saved in PAL.  Not to be a nudge, but changing modes on the fly was (is)
one of the wonderful things about the Amiga.  I have a fan, have not figured out how to install it yet.

There should be no problem with changing between NTSC and PAL screenmodes. What happens when you try?

To get fast switching between two Amiga modes you have to make sure (using Indivision config tool) they use the same DVI output mode, so your monitor does not resync at switch.

I use Indivision with Dell 1708FP monitor. When changing Amiga modes involves changing output mode, the switch takes 2 to 3 seconds. It depends on monitor. If there is no output mode change, it takes about 0.5 second, which depends on Indivision.

It is not difficult to switch between NTSC and PAL mode with one, at least I never had issues with doing it when I briefly owned one and had it in my old A1200 after I sold my CV card.

I think I have all my Amiga modes set to output at the same high Indivision resolution, so switching between 50/60Hz on the Amiga is instant.   Check the config tool - I believe you can assign each Amiga mode its own Indivision mode.  It's not entirely obvious at first and I'm not sure I even remember 100% correctly.  I configured it once and never needed to go back to make further changes.

Do you have several monitor files in your DEVS:Monitors drawer? Maybe your programs try to open "best fit" displays to some monitor drivers which won't work on your setup?

In any case you should edit Indivision display settings for _each_ monitor separately with its config too. Check all modes you have in use, and think twice if you need to keep them in use.

I use the 1024 mode on both my Samsung u28d590 uhd monitor and on our Samsung 9 series TV without any problems. I live in Norway so I use pal ofc.

I have another question though, asking it here if it's OK, instead of starting another thread.

I run os3.9 and I want to preserve chipmem, can I use fblit or another tool so the higher resolution doesn't eat up all my chipmem?

I noticed I have tried it, seeing the "simplegels" etc at the end of my ss, but I only have 900k chipmem after entering wb.

Any tips to this?

This question really needs another thread.  And also more details.  On a properly configured OS 3.9 machine without a graphics card and with a decent amount of fast ram, I normally average 75%-85% of chip mem free.  That's with a decently high resolution selected, 16 color Workbench, GlowIcons and color wallpaper.

Just throwing that number out there but your question doesn't help at all.  For starters you'd need to say what resolution you're using.  I.e., obviously if you're using something like 1024x768x256 colors, you can't expect to have much chip mem free!

Yes, it's off-topic here, but anyway, what you see on the screen has to be in Chip-RAM. The Indivision is not a gfx card. The gfx card is still the AGA chipset and the chips can only access Chip-RAM. A screen of 1024x768x256 needs 768 KB gfx memory. With 8 colors it would need 288 KB. This memory must be in Chip-RAM. What can be moved into Fast-RAM by fblit and the like are those bitmaps which do not belong to the current display: Icons, hidden window parts and so on. But not the display itself.

As I wrote, I use 1024(x768 obviously) %&$#?@!%&$#?@!%&$#?@!9786; and 16 colors. Standard Os3.9 icons, but I suspect Amidon uses a bit as well.

I've set the icons to use "other mem" but is there something else I can do? Play with Remus, loadmodule, updated graphics.library and such? Or will I simply have to spend a fair bit of chipmem to get 800x600x16 resolution?

Switch to the Peter K. icon library (faster icon display, better color quality, less memory usage).  Use Env-Handler (so that items are loaded into memory as they're used, rather than all at once).  Install the latest version of TLSFMem as early in the startup sequence as you can (to prevent memory fragmentation).

There's literally about 98345793875 other things you can do.  What tweaks and hacks/patches you install depend on your personal tastes and requirements.
