Unless I see the actual 4000 and the insides, I won't buy it at that price.

Huh, the box itself certainly isn't "mint."

If it hasn't been checked, there's a good chance that the battery's caused some damage...

It is being sold by "krystynascreations_half" AKA Merlancia.

Oh, thanks for the warning.  I was tempted at some of their stuff, but don't want anything to do with Merlancia.

Well, in selling new in box items, there is something to be said for the box not having been opened.  It would seem the seller might want to give a guarantee of sorts, given the unopened box.

Tell me about Merlancia - I am unaware of any history there... ?

Merlancia is a 'company' selling Amigastuff and announcing vapour stuff every now and then. Apparently it's run by some spotty teenager and his mum.

Here are some threads provided for your viewing pleasures :-):

Three

And the piece the resistance: Dave Haynie's point of view about Merlancia. About one third down.

But the box has already been opened.  Look at it.  The circular seal doesn't line up, and the Commodore tape has been cut, and then re-taped over recently with clear tape.  It's quite visible in the picture.

krystynascreations-half, is indeed associated with Merlancia.    (I'm not sure if it's Ryan's wife, girlfriend, or mother -- it's quite a confusing relationship!  But there is a link there, somewhere.)  Buyer be VERY AWARE!!!!!!!!!!!

In all fairness, when I ordered my A4000, I paid more to get the RAM maxed out, and when it was delivered to me, it was taped up just like this one is, original Commodore tape cut, and resealed! On the inside, however everything (short of the warenty seal) was perfect and beautiful!

Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that that is the case with this one!!

True, but you can tell this has been done much more recently.  The Commodore tape yellowed with age, but the other tape is very clear, new and shiny.

And after I posted that, I re-read the description in the auction, and they say the box has been opened to inspect contents...  Yet they show no pictures of the contents.  Why would you open a box to inspect it, and then not show what you found?
