Amiga 600 RGB Problem
« on: April 09, 2016, 09:38:18 AM »
Hi there,

I seem to have an issue with the rgb output to crt on my amiga 600.

Amiga was recently bought from ebay quite yellowed but after a soak in peroxide (motherboard removed) its now looking as good as new!

It was working fine up until the other night when what seems most of the red colour has disappeared from the screen & it has taken on a green tint & also the screen seems darker than usual.

Output on RF connection is fine.

Ive bought a new cable I tried that & also tried wiggling the connection in case a pin was loose but nothing improved.

After watching a few youtube vids I downloaded the system schematics & probed about with a digital autoranging multimeter I assumed that the problem wasn't with the U12 encoder as its outputting fine on RF so must be the connection between the encoder & rgb port.

Ive measured the resistors on this circuit & most seem to give a reading in the ballpark of what is stated on the schematics however a few seem way off as follows:

R232A=12.63? schematic states 33?
R232B=2.71 schematic states 33?
R232C=12.72 schematic states 33?

Also in between denise & encoder I got some strange readings on 214/215/216A schematic states 270 & the reading I got was around 170 on each & also I got a strange reading on 214/215/216F schematic states 330 however I got a reading of 182 on each?.

As you can probably tell I'm not a electronics expert by any stretch of imagination but are these normal readings from these smd's?

I know one end of a soldering iron from the other so im confident enough to undertake any repair if needed.

Any ideas please would be most helpful thanks a lot
