Viva Amiga release in March
« on: January 08, 2016, 08:52:44 AM »
As mentioned at

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/vivaamiga/viva-amiga-the-documentary-film/posts/1457645

the completed Viva Amiga film is being released in March.  First, Kickstarter backers will receive their prizes, and then the general public will be able to buy DVD's of the film.

          Happy New Year,

No digital release, or did I miss something?

I don't even own a DVD player, but am more than happy to buy movies digitally, even ones all DRM'ed up, but seems this isn't an option.  I've spent over $200 on video content, much of it DRM, in the last month.  I believe in supporting content producers.

Shame, because all it will promote is it hitting the torrent sites the minute people get their discs, and I suppose that's where I'll see it, that or YT.

The only thing I torrent are things I cannot pay for and obtain in modern formats I can actually use, in this case digital.

It takes 20 minutes at best to rip a dbd, thing WILL hit the torrent sites.

I think it is pointless to worry about people pirating what you create.  It is going to happen regardless.  The people that are going to buy it will buy it.  They people that pirate it would not have bought it in the first place.

With software you can put some basic protection on it but DVDs and CDs are easy marks.  You just waste energy worrying about something you can't control.

The Hateful Eight, Star Wars TFA, and The Revenant all showed up on torrent sites before they were released in theaters.  My kids were watching Star Wars TFA at school when another student had a copy on their phone and were showing to everyone a week before it opened.

This film has the benefit that most people have no idea what an Amiga is let alone want to pirate a movie about it.  As I said, the people who are going to buy it will.

Been able to buy Viva Amiga for a while on digital. Was on digital before it was released on DVD

Vimeo has it for rent or purchase
https://vimeo.com/ondemand/vivaamiga/195541850

Amazon video also has had it for a while now.

I had it coming as a Kickstarter backer and bought it on Vimeo anyway. All support to the Amiga story lest it be forgotten and buried under all the Mac and Windows stories.

Lookee what finally showed up!

I got it too, plus the soundtrack.

Speaking of late delivery, those people who complain that it took them 1 year to get their stuff from Kicktarter need to be quiet. We waited 6 years for our stuff!
I'm kinda OK with that, Zack was almost an one man show and was able to somehow deliver. It's better late then never, unlike other Kickstarter projects that went bust with all the backers money.
I backed the project because I wanted the movie to be made.
