CSA mega midget racer problem.
« on: November 16, 2015, 03:49:33 PM »
Since a few days my A500 locks up when I activate the ram via the startup-sequence. It just hangs, mouse freeze. I tried another A500, another power-supply ... the board works fine when I do not activate the fastram but it's slow then because there is no 32bit ram available.

I also tried booting with supplied boot/driverdisk with the same result... see picture.

Anyone with suggestions, repair, ... maybe a ramboard for sale ?

Probably an obvious question but are you able to try with different ram chips?  Or maybe cut down to half - i.e., if you have 8MB remove just 4MB and test, then swap to the other 4MB?  Also, could it be a failing power supply not having enough juice to activate the ram board?

Unfortunately the rams are soldered. Altough it is already connected to a converted to AT powersupply since I also have some external diskdrives and a powerhungry scandoubler/ff I did connect to another one without the other expansions connected. No luck.

It has a gvp a500+ On the side expansion with 1gb scsi, 8mb ram and the pc-emulator in it. Kickromswitch, switch to make external drive df0:, 1mb chipram hack with a501 in the trapdoor and an external scandoubler/ff and a beefy psu.

I got it all working since last year. That said i have the same problem in a standard a500 with only the csa in it.

Had one back a few years ago and never had much luck in it with ROMS above 1.3 so I dumped it. Do you have 1.3 ROMS you can test?

I have a 1.3 rom in it also, however I never had a problem with 3.1 rom before and I tested it in another A500 with 1.3 with the same result. The only problem I had to solve with 3.1 was with the filesystem... there is something about it in the manual
