OctaMEDPlayer from A-EON Technology (WIP)
« on: October 23, 2015, 03:44:58 PM »
Here is the latest pictures of the new OctaMEDPlayer v8.1 running under AmigaOS 4.1 and AmigaOS 3.9

The new version uses AHI and is fully ReAction based.  It is still work to do but the project has been ported/rewritten from the original 68K assembler to C code by a very capable developer who has been commissioned by A-EON Technology.

Progress on OctaMED running on OS4 was the most exciting news from Amiwest for me. It might yet undo the strings of my purse to buy an OS4 machine.

The UADE plugin for Tunenet on OS4 uses the original 68k replay routines for 100% authentic playback.

I missed the any recent announcements and haven't had time to watch any Amiwest videos yet, but is the 68k version of Octamed being developed in parallel with the OS4 version? How about the AROS/MorphOS versions?

Is there an ETA for the release of the first updated version?

AmigaOS 3.9 current work in progress version:

Unrelated, but can I ask what tools you're using to give the borders & title bar shading in your test system?  I'm a big dork about that kind of stuff.  I use a combination of Birdie & Visual Prefs, plus a few other hacks here & there.  Here's mine:

Since the Amiga audio is digital it'll be as authentic as 68k, contrary to C64 for example.

Audio is digital but it is still likely going to sound slightly different than the original 68k routine, even when you play it on the original Amiga hardware. In fact, even original 68k players may sound different with an accelerator card because of subtle change in timings.
