Changing Workbench image viewer
« on: October 06, 2015, 10:31:53 PM »
Can someone please explain how to change the Workbench image viewer. Multiview just doesn't cut it when you have to deal with a 32 color workbench.
Thank you

Multiview is great if you update your datatypes to processor-optimized ones. Set it to run on its own screen rather than Workbench. ;)

I recommend the "WarpDT" datatypes.  they can be found on Aminet or here:  http://www.warpdt.co.uk/  You can register them if you'd like to support continued development.

Plenty of other picture viewers are available, it should be mentioned, but a lot of them are pretty old and no longer supported.  IMHO Multiview is just fine once properly configured.  ;)

At some point there should also be a release of "MultiviewerNG" for classic systems, as well.

I'm also a fan of the WarpDT suite. PicShow is another good viewer.

Okay, this is all really good information and thanks a lot.  Changing Datatypes
and updating Multiview seems to make sense.  But my question was is there a
way to change Workbench so when I click on a an image it opens a different pic
viewer?
Thanks

Just change the default tool in the icon, or if you are using def_icons you can change just the one, and it will change it for all of them:
Amiga 500: 2MB Chip|16MB Fast|30MHz 68030+68882|3.9|Indivision ECS|GVP A500HD+|Mechware card reader + 8GB CF|Cocolino|SCSI DVD-RAM

Thank you

you might try this program and see if you like it better than MultiView.

once you find a suitable replacement viewer, you might just rename it as multiview (in case you dont have def_icon installed)
