It's not my hardware, I just took the photo.  Maybe a backplate isn't ready or perhaps it was left open for those who were a little more inquisitve.

It was their choice to put it in a public space.

Chances are, that MorphOS will only support Apple hardware on x86_64 ;)

I hope not. I hope that is not true. If it is then we went no where. It is still a very expensive x86_64 that is not affordable to my budget.

However, what I like about MorphOS however is the fact that it is a commercial product and not free. Some people would look at me like I am crazy when I say this, but I will tell you why my statement is not only not crazy, but full of sanity, common sense and legit in all regards.

Because MorphOS is commercial, you ending up supporting the developers which increases development of the OS by: adding new features fasters, bug fixes faster and so on. I would go as far as pay for a browser if it means there will be releases of the browser faster with youtube/video streaming feature, bug fixes faster, new features faster...heck be at least as close to modern browser's latest version. If paying means this possible instead of waiting 1 to 2 years for a new version then I will do it in a heart beat and would love it...if it is commercial.

People would say look at Linux...it is free and there is...I would say stop right there...we all know why we can't compare Linux with a very niche and hobby market like MorphOS/AROS.

All I an saying that due to the niche market and due to the small amount of people in the community...if we really want to support MorphOS and even AROS ...we should consider having majority of the software being commercial...especially the ones we take for granted as free like Chrome, Safari, Internet Explorer, and FireFox....such as browsers as well in a niche market and even the OS have to be commercial. That to me is the only way we can enforce support for people who wish to use these apps and operating systems.

I know people would hate me for saying this....but CD key activation that checks online if you are the legit buyer of the OS like MorphOS is doing but even more securer and done in all their commercial apps...I would love that and be happy with it. If it means limiting or hindering piracy which in itself will hurt the small community, I will be smiling with joy. If I cannot afford such app...then I have to make money first then buy it.

+1.  I would gladly shell out $$ for even an update to IBrowse for classic systems, but when we don't have coders to work on it...  *sigh*

TL;DR.  More people need to put their money where their mouths are if they really want to see progress.  :(

Weeeeee I am so happy there are three different OS's Hehehe by the way I loooovee aros here. You guys are aware that if AmigaOS.4.1 does not jump to x86 soon....it will lose the battle and die a horrible death. I hope X5000 is x86 or else ouch.

I see you're relatively new here so I'm assuming you've missed the many thousands of threads speaking of this jump to x86 in the past and luckily you missed out on the various 'Amiga Camp' wars which unfortunately only divided and hurt our community.

AROS has been around for quite a while running on very cheap x86 hardware configs and the cheapest of all the Amiga OS's being free and open source to boot.  I have evangelized it to many of my non-Amiga friends over the years as the alternative to Main stream x86 options. When I ask these people how they are enjoying the AROS experience they all tell me it's 'nice' or 'cute' or something to that effect and never get drawn into it for an extended period of time.
This is the where I fail to understand how any Amiga flavour OS will benefit from moving to x86! Unless a person has a connection with Amiga in the past then they won't want to understand why they should use this niche OS when an already free open source OS does everything they need already for many many years (you know the one that Linus dude started).

for every hobby I have I am 'connected' in it with my time and money and most importantly my passion for the hobby.  You cannot force people to enjoy a hobby.
I have friends that spend enormous amounts of money that make me cringe on radio controlled planes and models and let's not talk about those that are into classic cars restoration lol

Theses same people still understand why I enjoy spending time and money keeping my various Amiga's and 8 bit machines still running and also my passion for AmigaNG developments.

IMHO cheap hardware and x86 isn't the answer.

A lot of us have been clamouring for Hyperion to release a version of AmigaOS 4 for ARM based systems for years. Many many years.

PowerPC is very nice and all that, but the truth is that it is very expensive and niche. Amiga boards are actually dual-purpose embedded system hardware - so hopefully very reliable, but also gaining all the downsides of those systems (lack of features, etc).

We all know that it's not going to happen, but AROS is migrating to lots of systems right now, and is looking pretty useful. Barrier to entry is very low. RISC OS probably has far more users now because of the Raspberry Pi than AmigaOS ever wlil (and no, the RPi is clearly not going to be as good as an A1 X5000, but the order of magnitude price difference (nearly two orders of magnitude) is a major bonus.
