Irc
« on: September 25, 2015, 12:45:28 AM »
Hi All, I'm sure I am the biggest pest on here,I apologize for taking up people's time with my simple questions. Just that I have had my Amiga locked away for 9 years. And now I have moved to a new apartment with space enough for me to have it up and running. So I am just trying to play catch up on all these things. Question, is there a site where I can go and read about IRC, how it works and how to connect?
The site at Vapor.com keeps refusin my connection.  So I guess I don't know the correct password.  But even if I did I still wouldn't know what to do after that. So I need a crash course if one exists. I am running AmIRC if that means anything.  Thanks for all the great help.
Brad

Did you grab the latest AmIRC off Aminet?

From my understanding vapor.com doesnt exist or have an IRC server active.  A few spots are Freenode, EFNet, and Quakenet.  Just depends on what server you want to be on. There are plenty of IRC servers still around.

Just to be safe, are you using Miami or AmiTCP? I only ever tried to use genesis a few times but Miami is still the one I use on the 1200.

Hope it works for you.

@punkyclown

there's a ton of stuff on IRC out there, but for the moment, i'd like to point out that there is an amiga.org IRC channel. you get can your questions answered by reading the FAQ. there are also the amigaworld IRC servers, too. setting up AmIRC is easy. just read the included docs, which also have a brief section on what IRC is all about. have fun!

"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn’t have come here."
