Bet it has an Accelerator in it, 030 at least!

You are correct...this machine is a beast.. there is another small board plugged into a socket on the motherboard..hmmm... any guesses..??

Depends on the socket! ;)

It'll have to be a wild guess to what the board is that's connected to the motherboard but I have a sneaky suspicion it's a 2MB chipmem upgrade of some sort.

2 intereting things to find out is if it's 1 or 4MB thats soldered to the Impact card. Normaly for a 40Mhz (and 50Mhz) card it would be 4MB but seing that the jumper for setting 40Mhz is of a different color it might be an upgraded/overclocked 25Mhz card with just 1MB. Next is if the SCSI works on the Impact card, if it does I'd use that SCSI instead and sell the Supra card. Less power needed and you could get some $ in the pocket.

Please concider removing the Supra card and take some highres pictures of it from both sides to submit to AHwDb and BBoAH as they seem to be missing pictures of this board.

Funny that's an A2091 not a Supra controller.  It doesn't appear to have any Supra cards in it at all, unless perhaps the floppy drive?  I think that sticker is a ruse. ;)

Edit: Red power light and green HD light, probably a Rev. 4-era board.  Still not bad!  :)

Ya, with the new picture it's clearly a A2091 and not a Supra controller.

I'd drop the A2091 off on Amibay and use the SCSI on the GVP card if it's working since it should be faster and allow you to map the 32bit fastmem outside Z2 space to free up some of that Z2 adresspace for something else. Right now the GVP memory seems to be jumpered in Z2 space, probably to have some fastmem in Z2 space for the A2091 not to resort to PIO crawl mode (this would also indicates that it's likely just 1MB and not 4MB GVP memorysticks installed).

I know I was looking for the SupraDrive..hehe its not in there.  I'm sure it was at one time though.  On the upside the battery has been removed and looks like there is a chop ram upgrade as well..

I bet the system originally came with the A2091 and the original owner added the accelerator at a later date, without knowing anything about how to change the drive from one card to the other or the performance benefits that could bring.

But it's always more fun when you have the actual history of the machine.  :)

IMHO as the owner of one, the built-in SCSI on GVP accelerators is a bit slow, however.  So it's possible that a modded A2091 (with SpeedGeek's overclock hack, the latest SCSI chip, etc.) could even outpace it.  Even Ralph Babel mentions on his website (quote) "Note: Yes, SCSI on GVP accelerators typically is slower than on-board transfers on GVP Zorro-II hard cards."

Supra controllers were rubbish, anyway.  I have one kicking around in my spare A2000.  Going to replace it with an overclocked A2091, if I ever finish that project.  You interested?  :p

Would only be interested to keep ..cos of the sticker on the front.  The A2091 seems better if the Supra is rubbish :).  I need to power up this machine to see if she even works ..will keep ya'll posted for sure.  Perhaps a Youtube video is in order?
