There was this guy who took a second morgage to buy it. But since he didn't finalize the purchase before he took the morgage he got pissed when Petro said he wanted more. That thread on Facebook is epic :D

which page? i would like to read it :)

greed should be punished. To take a mortgage for that is crazy anyway

He's delirious if he thinks he's going to get Apple I money out of the Walker, lol.

http://www.macrumors.com/2013/05/25/working-apple-1-computer-sells-for-record-auction-price-of-671400/

This m/c was sold for $40k in non-working condition initially, then new owner had it repaired. Then he had it signed by Wozniak. This suddenly makes it worth $670k? I don't think so. Oh well... This middle eastern chap has money to burn, good luck to him.

I was also referring to that thread and in another thread that same guy said the deal was still on after all... but I can't seem to find that one anymore in the FB Amiga Group.

He wants 25.000 euro for the Walker. Based on the price he saw for an Apple I on E-bay. Like the Walker was ever as historic as an Apple I ...

That's a bit much!  I got less than 1/10 of that for mine!

Wouldn't it be better to just pretend the Walker never came into existence and forget the whole 'preserve it in a museum for future generations bit'
Life begins at 100 MIPS!

If he's really selling the walker prototype we should contact him and pool our monies to secure it. It should be preserved in a museum.

That's absolutely correct!
Not staying on the shelves of someone's basement collecting dust!  ;-)

Yes, museum dust is way better than basement dust.

Most items in museums are stored in the "basement" anyway because they do not have space to display everything.

Which is why the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum built the Udvar-Hazy Center, conveniently 15 minutes from my house.  Space Shuttle Discovery, SR-71 Blackbird, Concord, Enola Gay, and tons of Apollo-era space stuff, as well as the largest IMAX movie screen on the east coast.  Anybody from this forum ever visits the DC area, I'd love to show them around.  ;)

Sorry, big space geek as well as Amiga geek, I'll shut up now.  :D
