Wireless hookup with pcmcia card
« on: August 18, 2015, 03:56:16 AM »
Hello, Trying to convert my A1200 to wireless connection.  I have a Netgear pcmcia card
that is MA401 compliant.  Should work with the Prism2 software. However the card is not
flashed.  I have no PC with a slot to flash it, if one even exists anymore.  I would like to either
trade this card and some cash for one that is flashed.  Or have someone flash this card for
me and I would pay for that.
Would appreciate any help or advise.
Thanks

Brad Hansen

You can buy an adapter from a computer store. One of those multiport things.

I am sorry, but I have no idea what you are talking about, an adapter?

Yes, like I said in my original post I have a NetGear PCMCIA card, But it is NOT flashed.
I need to get it Flashed so it will work with my Prism2 software.  I am looking for some help
on getting that done.  Are you trying to tell me that there are Wireless PCMCIA cards that are for sale some where and work in Amigas?  A little less cryptic response would help.

He suggested that you get adapter and do flashing yourself.

Those old PCMCIA card are cheap, so I would suggest that you just buy Orinogo Gold or Silver card, they work out of the box

Option 1:  Buy a pre-flashed card.  These come up for sale all the time over on sites like Amibay, or you can post in their "wanted" section.  Here's a post from someone looks like he still has 16 cards available for the reasonable sum of £15 + shipping, and links to a tutorial how to set it up:

Option 2:  Find someone willing to flash your existing card for you.

Option 3:  Get an adapter to interface a PCMCIA card to a modern PC, and flash it yourself.  Adapters can be bought at most computer retailers or online.

TL;DR.  Just buy one of the cards from the guy in the link if you want to save yourself a lot of hassle.  ;)
