Os4 demo / Release party ( The BIG BASH)
« on: February 22, 2004, 12:38:00 PM »
I am seriously considering holding a Os4 demo followed by pre-release party for the Midlands area within the next two/three weeks (will have to check with Hyperion when is best time).

If anyone is interested please could they show their interest by posting here.

This is the hall it will be held at.

This is a MAP on where the hall is.

Westwood is about 1.5 miles N.NW of the station ... Just say to the taxi drivers .. Stafford Hall, Hampton court..Westwood. (Off Wicken Way)

If you decide to walk .. Come out of train station .. turn North (left turn ..A15, Bourges Boulevard) and walk up to Westfield Rd (2nd) roundabout. Turn left .. (West) and walk to roundabout.. Turn right (North) and walk to second roundabout ..Turn left (West)... Shopping Centre is directly in front of you .. Walk inbetween shops and you bump into Stafford Hall.

This is the easiest route to explain, but not the best way .. That way is Via Mayors walk.. Priory road etc Because it has footpaths and pedestrian crossings enroute... (You dont really wanna use any subways/ underpasses do you !!  )

I live in Cosgrove Close, so am VERY close to hall.

Well mick sutton and myself have already discussed coming and said we would.
My monitor is a 19" CRT, some one did bring a Projector but it only
handled resolutions upto 800x600.
I got the short straw when we was setting up my A1 was closest to the projector so it got attached to mine.
Hey how about making it the UK OS4 beta CD release party.
Off course you'll need to ask hyperion when it will be done.
Massive p!$$ up, buffet, DJ, party etc. Don't mind chipping in a few $$$ to help.
Ask fleecy, alan etc to come.

My reply. . .

Thats a Brilliant idea. guess we could make first two hours an os demo .. Maybe show off clean installs on fresh hard drives ..

Install .. configure printers etc ?

Maybe Sven will attend and flog some new gear ??

Alan or maybe Some of the Hyperion crew ?

Then, as you say .. Pack stuff away and have a Disco / Pi$$ up (there is a bar included in the hall).

Would mean that I would have to charge an entrance fee though to pay for the disco ( & buffet ??) which is something I hadn't planned on.

guess I will have to see if I can catch Ben on IRC.

If anyone is reading this and is interested in attending a Midlands demo (or just the Pi$$up) ..... THIS is the place to post your interest !!

So .. I guess if peeps ARE interested in coming/celebrating.. etc ..

NOW is the time to state so.

Paul.

Hey Paul
;-) Sounds like a good idea

If it is that day, then I'm almost certainly there.  It's only going to cost me a tenner to get there (actually, it's going to cost £9.90 to get there... and 10p to get back  :-)), and being a sad Amigan nerd with no life, I'm not doing anything else.

Hopefully the point of the celebrations will have, erm, happened.  Or maybe something else worth celebrating would have happened instead.

Ok ..

Hall is now

BOOKED

Because it was too late to get a private bar license through the courts.. Brenda has kindly allowed us to purchase drinks at the private members bar at CLUB prices... ( ie: cheap) Provided we vacate private bar with the drinks immediately ...

ie: Take the drinks back into the main hall.

ok .. Next problem is getting a disco.

Any help ?

I'm thinking of putting an honesty box out to charge £2.50 entrance fee to pay for hall..... Any profits to go behind the bar ...

How does that sound ?

Forgot to say ..

Its a 17:00 hrs setup. show at 20:00 ?

then .. Party till 23:00hrs.

As its a late start it will give people who have travelled distance a chance to "settle in"... Or maybe check out the city sights !!
