Uh, wrong. That would be me (I hope).
I have been in contact with Paul Gentle at Varisys since before it was announced that they designed the X1000.
And I've exchanged several messages with Trevor over the last few years.
I have hoped for this since Freescale introduced the E5500 core, and now it is likely to happen.

An AmigaOne running MorphOS.
Frankly, my wet dream realized.

It certainly is an interesting development. To me it signals two positive things potentially happening behind the scenes:

1. A-Eon, true to its form, has provided adequate documentation on the Cyrus Plus board to the Morphos team to make porting the OS as easy as it can possibly be.

2. The Morphos team, aiming for an ISA transition are making the Morphos code more portable, which should yield fruits in a relatively low-cost porting effort to the Cyrus Plus.

The results being:
- The Morphos team gets to test advances they are putting in the OS on the path from 3.7 to 3.10
- Morphos users have more hardware choice available
- A-Eon places itself as the new hardware centre for multiple operating systems
- Hyperion Entertainment will have some competition for the same hardware

The $100,000 question remains: Which will be the first to bring multi-core support on the X5000 et al?
---------------AGA Collection---------------
1) Amiga A4000 040 40MHz, Mediator PCI, Voodoo 3 3000, Creative PCI128, Fast Ethernet, Indivision AGA Mk2 CR, DVD/CD-RW, OS 3.9 BB2
2) Amiga A1200 040 25MHz, Indivision AGA Mk2 CR, IDEfix, PCMCIA WiFi, slim slot load DVD/CD-RW, OS 3.9 BB2
3) Amiga CD32 + SX1, OS 3.1

And if we're really lucky, more people will take a leaf out of A-Eon's book, and stop the petty schoolyard "my OS can beat up your OS" bickering that is still so prevalent (even in this thread).
More co-operation and less sniping will be be beneficial for everyone.

I don't use MorphOS much, but this is surely a good thing.

Or better: which will be the first to bring a *true* multi-core support on the X5000? I'm not interested in seeing the first hacky solution that will appear.

I am not interested in getting into pissing matches with OS4 supporters either, as I am likely to set an X5000 up to triple boot MorphOS, OS4, and Linux.
I know what I like better, as the developers are consistently producing upgrades and are some of our oldest and best coders.
However, OS4 actually does tend to resemble 3.1 more.
This is actually a result of the difference in focus between the developers of these two OS'.

Frankly, with such a small user base, we should feel grateful to have three NG OS offerings to choose from and more than one new hardware developer.

Pretty damned neat for a system that was written off by most years ago.
