Wait, the whole idea of these newfangled App stores that are to bring us new and exciting, usable apps for our machines, right?
Hate to pick nits, but it's sort of a bit of a bottom of the barrel feeling to see pdf collections like this that were on most of the Miggy torrent/download sites years ago after they sold out the original run of the cd, is all. I'll stick to Bombjack and Archive.org.
I've been sitting here with cash in hand, wanting to buy something usable off all these Appstores. Something that's not silly desktop backgrounds, icons sets, or weird ActiveX style desktop candle/fireworks shooting programs that use 85% CPU cycles. But I still can't buy a digital only/online copy of OS4.1 FE? No one will answer me if that will ever be possible, but by God, I can buy all the pdf 'zine scans I dl'ed years ago elsewhere via torrent!
Don't get me wrong, I suppose I appreciate the effort, but I see an offering like Workbench CANDI as a bit of a slap in the face as a commercial offering from people selling $3000 computers. Novelty software not far removed from "Snowman Maker" (see below) being flogged off in the name of "platform progress". It's like paying for DirectX, which was a solution to a problem we never had, lol.
People really pay money to watch virtual candles burn, or bubbles float on their screens on their $3000 PC's? When's the Flying Toaster screenblanker coming out for the low, low price of $19.95?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4DeK25ljQ0Still recall all the stink when the "holy lineage" of the Amiga was tainted by offerings such as "Snowman Maker", and can't help but see all this as a rehash. Maybe that's just me, though.
I've got my cash in hand, but no one seems to want to sell me professional offerings.
