It would almost qualify as an assembled from spares, but it's not, quite...

NTSC and 120V.

You know there is an adapter Kipper2k makes that'll move that RAM board back further in the case so you can close it, right?  Of course then it would probably interfere with the Megachip.  Sometimes ya just can't win. :(  Good luck on your auction, anyway! :)

I have both types of CPU riser/mover and both Kipper2 boards, the one with ide and one without.

Both fit fine under the keyboard and top cover on and will clear the mega chip with a row of SIL socket strips :-)

Strange the scroll doesn't work, there are a couple of programs I used off aminet to get my scroll wheel working.
Would have to try and get my A1200 working again to see the startup-sequence though :-/

I think he's saying that the scroll wheel doesn't work on that particular junky mouse.  Not that it doesn't work at all.

FWIW this is a good program for that:  http://aminet.net/package/util/mouse/FreeWheel

Drop it in WBStartup and done.  ;)

Actually, I tried the adapter and it wouldn't work.  Double checked the traces using a magnifier and couldn't see anything wrong, but with the adapter in place, the computer was a no go.

Yeah, the mouse is basically a throw in.

I never bothered getting the programs to activate the scroll.  They would probably work with a decent mouse.

Funny you should say that as I had no end of trouble with them, sometimes it will work and then when I try the following day it wouldn't.
In the end because they were so unreliable I went with an ACA500 and probably end up selling the RAM cards :-/

@Lurch.

Well, now I feel better that it's not just me!

Wonder what the problem is.  Normally kipper's stuff is iron-clad reliable.

Not sure, tried it on two A500 plus machines and a rev6 board so three A500s can't be wrong.

Tried cleaning everything also, most of the errors I was getting was hinting at a kickstart ROM problem. I purchased a new 3.1 kickstart from Amigakit same deal.

Anyway they are sitting on the shelf, possibly sell them on and someone else might have better luck :-/

Just to clarify the picture (because I'm interested in this interface):

1  Kipper's ram expansion and interface work without errors in an A500 IF there is no adapter to move it to the back of the machine?

2  Kipper's ram expansion and interface will fit under the keyboard and top cover IF the top RF shielding is removed?

3  The adaptor is needed only if there is a Megachip?

4  The adaptor is needed only if there is a IndivisionECS?

Has anyone made Kipper aware of the problem?  I wonder if the adapter makes the CPU signals physically too long and one or more of the timing signals becomes marginal.

The kipper RAM expansion works just fine without an adapter.

However, quite often the RAM expansion forces the cpu up too high for the keyboard to fit properly in place.  It touches and lifts the keyboard up about 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch.

For some strange reason some keyboards and cases fit just fine, but others, not so much.  Not sure how or which ones.

You don't need the adapter to use with a Megachip, at least not on a rev 6a motherboard.  The rev 5 motherboard has things a little closer and the RAM expansion and the Megachip overlap for a few milimeters.

Indivision ECS doesn't have a problem with either the RAM expansion or the Megachip.  I believe the cpu adapter may conflict with the Indi, but since I'm not using the cpu adapter, I'm not sure.

Another note.

If you're suing a ROM switch, you will probably want to lift the RAM expansion up a level as most of the switches are just too high to fit it all together (RAM expansion, Megachip, ROM switch).

Hope that answers your questions.  If not, shoot another one over!
