I think people are getting carried away.  Basically, Stew said "Someone, come by my place, and save these Amigas from the garbage bin."

A very gracious offer, considering what they'd bring on eBay...  If I was within a day's drive of his place, I'd already be there picking them up.  But, alas, I'm not.  :-(  (How come no one wants to give away stuff in the Great Lakes area????)

Whoever is lucky enough to get there first, gets the prize.  Whatever they choose to do with the 'miggies after that point is their own business.  Karma says they should probably cheaply pass on items that they don't want/need...  But really, whoever picks it up will rightfully own it.  Can't blame 'em if they want/need to make a buck, instead.

I think the person who loves the A3000 the most should get it! :-)

Kent would you be interested in getting involded in the Open Video Toaster project? Please e-mail me the real story on Jim collas if you can.

If I have a toaster or toaster system left over after recouping my own cost, I'd be happy to donate it.  When my programming skills are better on the Amiga system, I'll donate some programming time as well.

As for the email... I'll have to think about it.  Too much at risk there, digital media and all.  Or to put it quite bluntly, it's a much bigger situation than anyone has guessed yet.

Kent you offered to enlighten about the truth about Jim Collas. So I responded with a request to know, please enlighten me. It will be our little secret in case you get hit by a bus or something. I heard Darek  Lisle was found dead in alley for spilling to many Amiga Gateway secrets.  Your programming donation would be very appreciated.

Here's a screenshot of my Amiga when it was working. This shot is sporting one of the ten different "themes" I had been working on.

I've seen that screenshot before, where can I get that theme, the wallpaper, the works? I like it!

PS: What's the dish with Collas? :-P

I was about to mention the same, that really is a slick-looking screenshot.

I still don't think taking something people give for free and make profit of it is a very legitimate thing, but the original poster asked for offers anyway in his second post, I didn't notice that.
You're not the only one broke Kent, I can't afford to get a PPC card for my A1200 (or it would be stupid to buy it to say the least...). Any chance of me getting it if there's one?

I wouldn't mind some of that stuff... A4000, Toaster, 1084.  And it looks like a mere 10 hour drive one way for me... :( But I would be willing to pay shipping and handleing charges and maybe some extra for them. I would send cash right now with paypal.

Looks like Kent got the deal to go out and get it from what he told me. I want to say sorry for all the crap I said. I just need a new A3000 as a spare to put away for safe keeping. From the sounds of it he is giving me an awsome deal if he gets a working one. Thanks again Kent!

I was given the confirmation to pick the lot up.  I'll be picking it up soon enough.  Once I get back to Kansas City, I'll post the entire lot prior to testing.  Each item will be given a number so I can track the testing being done.  When I get a listing of things tested (software, hardware, and misc) I'll post what is available of the lot.  So far, Acill, Roj, Cyberus, and Iamaboringperson have all made requests.  To be on the fair side, I won't post the entire list of tested equipment until after I'm done.  I'm willing to take what works and build entire systems if enough parts are available or if you just need specific things I can piece meal to a certain extent.  Let me give you an example, you can request a case, but not the case top alone.  You can request a hard drive, as long as there are enough for the working computers.  All monitors will be seperate, complete with cable and power cord.  If there are not enough power cords to go around for each computer and monitor, I will provide one at cost unless requested.  All payments must be made prior to shipping, no CODs.  I'm evaluating paypal currently but no word just yet.  I'm sorry to say that I will not accept foriegn currency... you will either need to exchange the currency or talk with me about an alternate method of payment options.

I'll keep you guys posted.

Oh yeah.  Be watching for another thread regarding the theme I was building.  I won't be able to do it right now, but I might be able to post something about it at work.

Oh yeah, hey Acill... no hard feelings man, I understand what happened.

@kent-

Wow!  Very nice of you!  Have a safe trip!

I'd be interested in a low-to-mid range A1200 (o3o) accelerator, especially a GVP series, if it has a GVP simm onboard, and any processor card for an A4000.  (I have a dead 3640 card.)  Might not even need the proc on it, as my 68040 is good.  It's the card that's toast.  Heck, even if one tests dead, I might pick it up for the cost of postage.  They're light.  ;-)

No big deal, if it's not available, or someone needs it more, though.  Honestly, I have everything I really need, but it'd help out my retro gaming A1200, and fix my backup A4000.
