« on: February 20, 2004, 01:38:58 AM »
Very large of Amiga software and hardware to give away. Several A2000's a 500 and a couple of 3000's . A4000mb's
GVP accelerators. Hundreds of boxed software titles. Even a PIV in there and a couple of 1084's! One hitch you must come and pick it ALL up! Located is Silsbee TX just north of Beaumont.

I've ben looking all over for a good deal on an A3000 to have as a spare for my system. Any chance at all I can get one if I pay to ship it to San Diego??? Just the system itself is all I need.

If I am going to go through the hassle of assembling, testing, boxing and shipping I may as well take offers. Feel free to make them if you want but there is an awful lot here. I even found a toaster or two. All of this stuff worked a couple of years ago. We built a new house and moved, and this stuff has not been used. Wife wants to toss and I just can't do that.

Oh man... I'm dying to get my hands on a _real_ Amiga system again.  If there was any way I could get down there in my busy schedule I definately would.  Ah this sucks.

I'll have an A3000 if you will send to Australia! :)

And I'll pay a large sum of money for it, too! :)

I'll put it this way.  If I'm able to pick up the equipment (with consideration to Cyberus posting first), I'll ship equipment overseas if you are willing to pay cost and post up front.  I'm only wanting to get one working Amiga computer system out of this and reimbursed for the trip and testing, the rest of the equipment will be sold.  The pricing of the items will depend on what items work after testing and the demand.

@Kent
"...The pricing of the items will depend on..."

Question: Why not let people on a low budget have the chance to get the Amiga, or Amiga board they haven't been able to put their hands on all these years, and let them have them for posting price (maybe plus some work to package) like the original owner was going to do ? [EDIT} Ok he suggested offers on second post... I must go to bed it's 4:33 here...:-o

Let me tell you my Amiga story.

For years I was working on customizing the snot out of my Amiga system.  I wrote custom scripts and small programs that made linux geeks drool over.  I helped Martin "Mason" Mertz build some of the extension to his glow icon collection.  I helped with the debugging of Eve (text editor) and even helped write an ARexx web server.  I had created custom image sets for MUI.  My icon package I was working on made it to almost 1283 custom icons (A complete set of GlowIcons w/o the extremely ugly shadows).  I had seveal backdrops I created along with tutorials.  My setup was a 4000D converted to an Elbox Power Tower.  Inside I had two high density floppy drives, 40GB hard drive, the latest Picasso-IV, the latest Concierto, the last of the Phase5 CSPPCs (060/50 604/233) with 128MB memory.  I had a VLab, an Ariadne II, and an X-Surf.  It was a very pimp setup that cost me almost 4000 total setup (I still have the 22" true flat CRT monitor and the Altec Lansing ACS45 speakers).  One day when tweaking something on the ARexx web server I smelled smoke.  Four months later I lost the cushiest jobs I ever had (webmaster working for Gateway.com).  I was scrounging all the money I could trying to raise a child and a cheating x-wife to get the computer system fixed.  Soon after, I lost my job in the midst of the dissolution of marriage.  I was making 40,000+ a year only to turn around and be in debt up to my ankles after diving in head first.  That was in the middle of June 1999 that I've been fighting to get a real working Amiga again.  I've since piecemealed PCs together from thrown away computer systems, or received from donations due to services I've performed on their computers.  Still struggling to find even a decent job after four years, I'm back in school and only working part time.  Through all this, I've been doing everything I can to get my hands on a working Amiga again.

Here's a screenshot of my Amiga when it was working.  This shot is sporting one of the ten different "themes" I had been working on.  The site detailing my work has been archived and left in its unaltered form on the RequestFocus.com web site.

Anyway, that's my Amiga story...  So who wants to know what really happened to Jim Collas and his reasons for the abrupt ending of his Amiga career?  I think there's only five other people who know the truth behind it.  :-o

You know no one cares about your story. You posted after I did asking if he would send out an item. All you care about is making money off others from a deal a guy started out wanting to help others for nothing. This is why the Amiga users left are so cold and why so many are leaving. Screw you mate. If all you need is one then see if he will send you one for the shipping. dont take advantage of others from anothers kindness!!! Yeah and I am sure I will get flammed for this, but hey I'm sure I cant be the only one that can see this. It just makes me sick!!

The Open Video Toaster effort could really use your donations to stimulate the upgrading of the Amiga Video Toaster software. I hope you will consider it.

I think people are getting carried away.  Basically, Stew said "Someone, come by my place, and save these Amigas from the garbage bin."

A very gracious offer, considering what they'd bring on eBay...  If I was within a day's drive of his place, I'd already be there picking them up.  But, alas, I'm not.  :-(  (How come no one wants to give away stuff in the Great Lakes area????)

Whoever is lucky enough to get there first, gets the prize.  Whatever they choose to do with the 'miggies after that point is their own business.  Karma says they should probably cheaply pass on items that they don't want/need...  But really, whoever picks it up will rightfully own it.  Can't blame 'em if they want/need to make a buck, instead.
